CNC Machinist Apprentice

TRUMPF Inc.'s registered Apprenticeship program allows you to earn while you learn. In this position, you will master your trade through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction. We will cover the cost of your college tuition in a related manufacturing program. Upon completion of this 2 year / 4,000 hour program, the Connecticut Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship Training provides an industry recognized certificate of completion.

• Ensuring Shop Safety
• Demonstrating familiarity with machine manual and safety instructions,
• OSHA requirements; complying with company safety practices and procedures
• Using built-in safety devices such as interlocks
• Wearing personal protection devices such as safety
• glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection
• Ensuring that all tooling is secured properly before start-up
• Closing covers and safety barriers / doors prior to operating machine
• Observing safe and proper environmental handling of stock
• materials and fluids such as coolants
• Maintaining clean, neat, and safe work area
• Demonstrating safe operation of cranes, lifting equipment and forklifts

Duties & Responsibilities

• Gain technical knowledge and milling/turning knowledge through participation in training.
• Gain founded technical knowledge through successful completion of courses provided by Colleges and/or technical institutions.
• Gain knowledge of TRUMPF internal processes through completion of assignments in various departments.
• Complete written reports after completion of each training segment to document training outcome.
• Participate in projects, Continuous Improvement and SYNCHRO activity.
• Apply knowledge and skills gained by joining the large parts machining team after successful completion of apprenticeship program.

Experience

Must have excellent learning skills and good communication and listening skills. Ability to follow instructions and organize to complete tasks fully and on time.
