The School of Arts and Sciences-Newark (
SASN) is a place where exploration, discovery, and imagination come together to form the core of a liberal arts education. We serve all undergraduates at Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N); and offer a broad selection of more than 2,000 undergraduate and graduate courses a year in more than 40 subjects.

SASN boasts one of the country's most respected English Departments, with an internationally respected faculty devoted to scholarship and creative writing in a wide range of subjects. Students can study English, and American literature from the Middle Ages to the present, as well as Arabic, Persian, Caribbean, Latin American, African, and Asian literatures in translation at both the bachelor's and the master's level. A nationally ranked creative writing faculty oversees undergrad and graduate programs. Our department offers courses that intersect with Women's and Gender Studies, Film Studies, American Studies, and Africana Studies. |

Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Department Administrator Supervisor for the Department of English in the School of Arts and Sciences-Newark. Reporting to the Department Chair, the Department Administrator manages daily operations, supports faculty and students, and performs administrative, business, and human resources functions for the Department of English.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
- Coordinating and overseeing administrative functions and operations.
- Managing human resources and payroll.
- Supervising Department staff.
- Overseeing Department budgets and is responsible for Department funds, including restricted, unrestricted, grant, and faculty projects.
- Reconciling accounts.
- Supporting academic programs and operations.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, stakeholder-focused team environment and skillfully and professionally handle multiple shifting priorities, interacting successfully with various individuals and stakeholders at all levels of the University and external community.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Requires a bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of administration.
- Also requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in an administrative role, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in computer literacy.
