Position Summary

Prince William Water is currently recruiting for the following temporary/seasonal (summer) positions. The length of these assignments varies and is also dependent on available workload.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

  • Ability to operate small equipment such as lawn mowers and weed trimmers.
  • Ability to paint.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others as well as in a team environment.
  • Assists maintenance crews in the absence of personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (i.e. wash trucks, clean shops, etc.)
  • Some experience in grounds and building maintenance and/or painting.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record according to Prince William Water policy.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Physical demands: The work is regularly active with periods of heavy exertion. Position requires workers to walk or stand for long periods; may lift and carry up to 60 pounds; climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding; bend, kneel, crouch and crawl; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; feel the size, shape and temperature of items; and operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak clearly, to see and hear clearly with or without correction, and to detect odors.
  • Work environment: Primary work is performed in shop or field settings and outside. Employees are exposed to dirt and soil; unpleasant odors; working outside in hot and humid conditions, or in inclement weather; and to hazards in the work.

Position Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

  • Run fire hydrant flow tests.
  • Prepare and send out fire flow test results.
  • Update GIS database with fire flow report information.
  • Assist with plan review.
  • Log and scan plans.
  • Assist Utility Inspectors with other duties as assigned.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, be detail oriented and have good communication skills.
  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record according to Prince William Water policy.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Physical demands: The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for short periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work required the ability to speak clearly and to see and hear clearly with or without correction.
  • Work environment: Primary work is performed indoors in a standard office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is subject to frequent interruptions. This position may be required to field verify information using a GPS handheld. When working in the field, there is exposure to a variety of weather conditions, traffic and noise.
