How you make a difference in this role:

The pharmacist investigator will work closely with administrative staff, other pharmacist investigators, the Office of General Counsel, and the Executive Director of the Board of Pharmacy to ensure compliance of licensees with all applicable state and federal laws and rules.

Job Overview:

The pharmacist investigator is responsible for completing inspections and investigations of licensees within an assigned territory prior to the due date. They must be familiar with all aspects of pharmacy practice and the related industry to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and provide education to licensees. The pharmacist investigator will work with local, state, and federal agencies when necessary to facilitate investigations. They will be responsible for staying current with required training and education requirements and accurately completing all documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct investigations of complaints and allegations filed with the Board of Pharmacy for compliance.
  • Educate licensees on deficiencies in practice to protect public safety.
  • Conduct periodic inspections in a wide variety of setting to verify compliance.
  • Work with local, state and federal agencies when necessary to facilitate investigations.
  • Perform administrative activities, such as tracking time, e-mails, phone calls, state care maintenance, reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required to be a pharmacist for at least 2 years or 1 year with residency, licensed in Tennessee. Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated leadership, and excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to exercise sound judgment in developing and interpreting departmental guidelines and policies. The ability to drive and travel within the state, including overnight. The ability to gown and garb for sterile compounding.
