The Sr. Associate Director for Alumni Career Engagement will oversee a functional area of alumni relations for a Development Office (DOFF) in Development and Alumni Relations at the Johns Hopkins University. The Sr. Associate Director for Alumni Career Engagement will manage strategic development, oversight, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives. The Sr. Associate Director for Alumni Career Engagement will engage alumni and foster a strong sense of community with Johns Hopkins University.
The Sr. Associate Director for Alumni Career Engagement will lead and oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive career-oriented programs and resources designed to support our alumni community. This dynamic individual will innovate scalable coaching initiatives, establish an alumni mentoring platform, and create networking opportunities across various industries and life stages. The Sr. Associate Director will also cultivate strategic partnerships internally and externally, track program effectiveness, and share insights to continually elevate alumni career engagement. Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement programs to engage alumni through events, volunteer opportunities, and networking activities.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute alumni events, including reunions and regional gatherings.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute online and industry-specific programs that facilitate mentoring and networking.
- Manage alumni communications, including newsletters, social media, and email campaigns to keep alumni informed and engaged.
- Update the DAR CRM to ensure accurate and up-to-date information. Make recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with the development team to identify and cultivate potential donors among alumni.
- Recruit, train, and manage alumni volunteers for various programs and events.
- Work with Life Design to provide networking and professional development opportunities for alumni.
- Collect feedback from alumni to improve programs and report on the effectiveness of alumni relations initiatives.
- Conduct benchmarking to evaluate programs/initiatives against peer institutions.
- Manage team members through coaching, guiding, supporting and setting performance and professional development goals. Actively utilize the university's process to evaluate performance and assist employees in reaching their goals.
- Collaborate with Director or Sr. Director on high-priority, high-visibility special assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
In addition to the duties described above, the Sr. Associate Director for Alumni Career Engagement will:
- Lead the strategy, development, and delivery of career engagement programs, resources, and events that support alumni across industries and career stages.
- Design and scale alumni-to-alumni mentoring initiatives that foster meaningful career connections, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
- Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships with campus stakeholders, alumni groups, industry partners, and volunteer leaders to expand career engagement opportunities.
- Develop industry-focused networking opportunities that strengthen alumni connections and support professional advancement.
- Measure and communicate program impact through data analysis, reporting, and insights that inform strategy and enhance alumni career outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Six years of related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years in alumni relations, career services, or related field.
- Proven experience in program development, partnership building, and project management.
- Demonstrated success leading and managing a diverse team of staff.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to travel for work 1-2 nights per month, and ability to work occasional weekends and evenings as necessary.
