Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Admissions Services reports to the Director of Compliance with a focus on admissions, initial and transfer eligibility, and athletics eligibility. This role is responsible for assisting with academic evaluation and collection of high school, college and international transcripts, applying both NCAA eligibility requirements and UCLA admission standards. The Assistant Director assists with monitoring student-athlete eligibility for selected intercollegiate sports and all prospective student-athletes, and supports the development of educational materials for meetings with coaches, staff and student-athletes.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in admission services (Required)
  • Understanding of the University of California System and NCAA eligibility rules. (Preferred)
  • Experience with evaluation of high school, college, and university transcripts; comprehensive knowledge of educational processes. (Required)
  • Experience working with academic credentials of student-athletes and/or prospective student-athletes with respect to specific NCAA initial, transfer and continuing eligibility rules. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of world-wide educational systems to help screen prospective student-athletes from numerous international institutions. (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of individual courses and major preparation requirements for UCLA academic departments. (Preferred)
  • Skill in interacting effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaches, administrators and other staff members. (Required)
  • Demonstrated skill in employing fundamental counseling techniques with sensitivity and understanding. (Required)
  • Ability to work under time constraints and with changing priorities, conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions and distractions. (Required)
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. (Required)
  • Ability to complete highly detail-oriented tasks with very little, if any, margin for error. (Required)
  • Ability to communicate orally both individually and in groups. (Required)
  • Demonstrated organizational skills. (Required)
  • Skill in writing memos and reports using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. (Required)

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and training. (Required)
  • Master's Degree in education, or relevant field. (Preferred)

  • Special Conditions for Employment

  • Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
  • Live Scan Background Check: A Live Scan background check must be completed prior to the start of employment.
  • CANRA: The position is designated as a mandatory reporter under CANRA. The employee must sign the "Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse".
  • Ability to work odd hours, including: nights, weekends and holidays as needed. (Required)
