Join MTSI's team at the Space Development Agency's (SDA) as a Enterprise Mission Engineer where you will play an integral role in ensuring the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA) delivers the operational capability the Warfighters need. Your expertise in translating mission needs into technical solutions will directly shape the PWSA's ability to execute complex missions in contested environments. As an Enterprise Mission Engineer at the SDA, you will serve as a critical link between Warfighter needs and technical implementation of SDA's PWSA. In this role, you will be working with Warfighters, SDA's Warfighter Integration Cell, and other stakeholders to define mission sets, develop operational concepts, and identify integrated solutions that ensure the PWSA delivers effective and timely capabilities. This position will be located at our customer site in Chantilly, Virginia with the potential for regular teleworking.
Role and Responsibilities*
Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
  • Mission Transition & Definition
  • Translate Warfighter needs into actionable concepts such as CONOPS, OPSCON, and use cases to define how the PWSA supports specific mission requirements
  • Engage with SDA's Warfighter Integration Cell, Warfighters, and external organizations to define detailed mission sets and ensure the PWSA implementation aligns with operational needs.
  • Concept and Capability Development
  • Support development of modeling and simulation capabilities to represent operational mission cases and evaluate mission effectiveness.
  • Develop and refine CONOPS, OPSCON, and use cases to represent mission scenarios effectively.
  • Advanced Trade Studies
  • Conduct trade studies and develop Courses of Action (COA) to assess and prioritize PWSA capabilities and requirements.
  • Drive innovation by identifying opportunities for advanced capabilities aligned with agency goals.
  • Requirements & Functional Analysis
  • Collaborate with Requirements Leads to perform functional analysis for the PWSA.
  • Develop technical requirements for the Enterprise and support solicitation development through the creation of Technical Requirements Documents.
  • Technical & Strategic Engagement
  • Provide support to the Technical Director and Senior Leadership for external engagements, representing SDA mission capabilities and initiatives.
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Utilize MBSE methodologies to represent and communicate mission capabilities across architectural elements.
Qualifications and Education Requirements*
  • Minimum of 15 years of Space Systems Engineering experience, with an in-depth understanding of operations and real-world implementations.
  • Demonstrated experience translating operational needs into technical requirements, CONOPS, and OPSCON.
  • Strong ability to perform trade studies and develop actionable COAs for decision-making processes.
  • Familiarity with MBSE tools and techniques to represent complex mission capabilities and scenarios.
  • Exceptional ability to engage with Warfighters, senior leadership, and external organizations to represent mission priorities and define architectural needs effectively.
Preferred/Desired Experience:
  • Experience working in large (CAT-I) Department of War program offices.
  • Experience defining enterprise-level systems and requirements validation processes.
This role requires an innovative thinker and collaborative leader who can bridge technical findings with high-level decision-making to enhance mission readiness and effectiveness.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. (REQUIRED)
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. (DESIRED)

Clearance Requirements:
This role will require the person to obtain and maintain a Top Secret and Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) security clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
