Advanced Assembly, Inc. (AAI), located in University Research Park on the west side of Madison, is looking to add a Materials Manager to our well-trained and experienced staff. Advanced Assembly, Inc. is an electronics manufacturing services provider of electronic assemblies and products, including the Captioned Telephone (CapTel). This full-time position offers a first shift schedule of Monday - Friday, a competitive starting wage and a full benefits package. Wage depending on experience. Regular schedules will include core hours of 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM, but there is flexibility in determining start and end times for the regular schedule. Job Summary: The Materials Manager oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of materials, including procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure uninterrupted production at optimal costs. Key responsibilities include supplier management, inventory forecasting, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system management, and coordination with production teams. - Compliance: Prioritize a "Safety First" culture. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures. Follow proper protocol by reporting safety observations, near misses, and incidents.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inventory, supplier data, and material usage.
- Procurement and Sourcing: Identify, select, and manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts to secure cost-effective, high-quality materials. Track supplier performance metrics including On-time Delivery (OTD), Cost, and Quality.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking, implement strategies to balance supply availability with inventory investment. Operational metrics include stockouts, expedites, and inventory levels.
- Production Planning: Coordinate with production and Program Management teams to align material flow with production, proto-type, and New Product Introduction (NPI) schedules.
- Warehouse and Logistics: Supervise receiving, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring proper handling and accurate tracking.
- Process Improvement: Develop procedures to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and manage the department budget.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Inventory Control Supervisor and Shipping Supervisor report to this position. - Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, or manufacturing is preferred. Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) experience is a plus.
- Hands-on working knowledge of material replenishment techniques such as Kanban, Water Spider, Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), Point-of-Use Storage (POUS), etc.
- Experience working in regulated or quality-controlled environments, including compliance with standards such as ISO 9001 or similar regulatory or quality frameworks (e.g., DoD, FDA) is a plus.
- Association for Supply Chain Management (APICS) Certification in Supply Chain Management desired.
- Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Materials Resource Planning (MRP) systems and Microsoft 365, particularly Excel. QAD experience a plus.
- Formal training in Lean/Six Sigma and/or applicable continuous improvement methods.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
