Overview
An Auto Transport Sales Associate for TEC Equipment is responsible for building and maintaining a customer base and satisfying customers' individual needs through solution-based Truck sales. The Sales Associate is responsible for four areas of activity: prospecting, selling, customer-follow up, and administration/self-management. Throughout these areas of responsibility, the person in this role must become invaluable to all customers by embodying TEC Equipment's value proposition throughout all customer interactions: TEC Equipment takes care of our customers with Convenient Access, provides Premium Products in a one-stop shop, is able to do this because we are the largest full-service dealership in the West, and is Committed to truly be every customer's Best Business Partner.
Responsibilities
Build a strong customer pipeline and meet with customers to provide solutions to problems, review product needs, determine new opportunities, and provide product quotes; ensure all customers understand TEC Equipment's value proposition including how, where, and when they can utilize our services, and why they should
- Demonstrate professional behavior at all times that supports achievement of required sales and new account targets. This may include completing daily cold-calls and customer visits, utilizing excellent communication skills, and refining sales strategies.
- Obtain orders for both new and used Auto Transport Trucks and Trailers. Become proficient in the processes of speccing and selling trucks. Including Volvo Dealer Portal, Cottrell system, Kentucky Trailer specifications, Sun Country Trailer specifications, and any other mfg. systems required to may need to use.
- Submit weekly call reports, weekly updates in the CRM (if applicable at your branch), communication on business potential, and analysis of growth opportunities to management
- Set monthly stretch goals for number of new accounts, number of cold calls, number of scheduled appointments, and number of existing customer visits and implement strategies to support achievement of those goals
- Collaborate with team members inside and outside of the sales department for best-practice sharing on a daily basis; build symbiotic relationships with branch's Parts Manager and Service Manager
Act as the main liaison between your customers and TEC Equipment. - Communicate new product release launches and proactively update customers on product changes and modifications, above and beyond the new and used Auto Transport sales business. The Sales Associate is responsible for, and, the primary point of contact for all aspects of the customer relationship with TEC Equipment and the Auto Transport Dept.
- Know TEC's Auto Transport inventory. Participate in all aspects of selling and managing the trucks and trailers for sale or in the reconditioning process regardless of lot location.
- Exhibit a thorough understanding of the Auto Transport and heavy-duty trucking industry and of all offerings of TEC in order to facilitate clear communication throughout the entire customer experience and provide customized business recommendations
- Prepare reports for marketing and sales and maintain accurate monthly expense accounts and commission submissions; this includes timely and accurate reporting of any add-ons or other costs related to each sale
- Attend conference calls, training, departmental meetings, Trade Shows and Conferences as requested by management to stay up to date on company changes, industry trends and technological advances
- Travel on a semi regular basis to meet with clients, attend trade shows, attend meetings with vendors etc. And perform all tasks as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years' proven experience maintaining and increasing sales
- 1+ year identifying and profiling prospective customers and developing and applying strategy to obtain orders
- 1+ year of outside sales experience
- Heavy-duty industry experience strongly preferred
- CRM Experience preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Ability to act as a team player and maintain internal and external relationships
- Entrepreneurial attitude and aptitude
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English
- Demonstrated ability to hold technical conversations with independent owners/operators, business owners, transportation managers, and municipality officials
- Intermediate knowledge of industry communication tools e.g. personal computer,
- Windows, Microsoft Office, etc. and of industry acumen
- Valid driver license
- Valid CDL is required. Must be obtained with one year of start date.
Compensation
Our commission-only sales positions offer unlimited earning potential, based solely on your sales performance. We provide clear and transparent guidelines for calculating commissions, ensuring everyone understands how their earnings are determined. The annual pay for this position is expected to be approximately $70,000 - $95,000.
