Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in Austin, TX is currently seeking a Safety Manager to join our South Texas team! As the lead field safety position in the Safety Department, the Safety Manager is responsible for monitoring of all safety and health related activities on the project site and for enforcing the policies and procedures outlined in the company safety program. The Safety Manager assists the Project Team to maintain a healthy and accident-free work workplace. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assist in enforcing the Site-Specific Safety Plan and Emergency Action Plan
  • Conduct site safety orientation for all new employees to review safe practices required on the project and by the Company
  • Enforce the Disciplinary Action Policy and document safety violations or unsafe conditions/activities and ensure corrective measures are implemented
  • Conduct weekly site safety inspections and periodically conduct safety inspections with Regional and Corporate resources, or Owners Representatives
  • Assist in accident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
  • Assists the project team in completing weekly jobsite safety inspections
  • Assists Project Team in ensuring OSHA compliance for all aspects of work activities
  • Assists Project Team with following the company procedures for OSHA inspections
  • Educate and coach trade partners through on-the-spot training and toolbox safety talks
  • Continuously focused on identifying unsafe acts or unsafe conditions and ensuring immediate corrective actions are taken
  • Assists project team in conducting weekly job-wide safety meetings
  • Assists in scheduling safety training for jobsite personnel
  • Communicates and reinforces the Company vision, values, and goals (the BC Way)
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years dedicated safety experience on a commercial construction jobsite.
  • Must have practical knowledge, work experience, and documented continuing education in areas such as:

    • Fall Protection
    • Scaffold Systems
    • Excavation
    • Confined Space in Construction
    • Cranes and Rigging
    • Equipment operations
    • Electrical
    • Incident/Accident Investigation
    • Steel Erection, Tilt wall Construction




Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Minimum of OSHA 510 Standards for Construction Industry. OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer or 502 Outreach Trainer Refresher certifications are preferred with a current certification within the last 4 years.

First Aid/CPR/AED certification within the past 2 years.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment

Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of the job must be able to hear and talk. Is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and high, precarious places.
