Description and Requirements

The Product Manager - ThinkPad Software Portfolio is responsible for defining and managing software product requirements that support the global ThinkPad commercial portfolio. This role focuses on delivering enterpriseready software capabilities that meet the needs of large enterprise customers and IT organizations, with an emphasis on seamless deployment, manageability, and scalability.

The Product Manager works in a highly matrixed, crossfunctional environment and partners closely with internal teams and external ecosystem partners to deliver highquality software and AI solutions aligned with ThinkPad commercial business priorities, the Windows ecosystem, and ThinkPad product development cycles.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain software product requirements that meet the needs of large enterprise and global commercial customers, with a focus on IT deployment, manageability, and operational consistency.
  • Translate enterprise customer, IT, and business needs into clear product requirements, documentation, and priorities to guide engineering execution.
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with software engineering, platform, UX, AI, marketing, legal, privacy, and compliance stakeholders to deliver enterpriseready software solutions.
  • Drive alignment across the Windows OS ecosystem, ensuring ThinkPad software integrates effectively across the Windows software stack, including firmware, drivers, OS, and applications.
  • Partner with platform and engineering teams to ensure software solutions work cohesively across drivers, firmware, BIOS/EC, operating system, and userfacing applications.
  • Closely monitor and align software development schedules with more rigid ThinkPad hardware development cycles and launch timelines, ensuring software readiness supports ontime platform launches.
  • Work in close partnership with product development, platform planning, and engineering teams to synchronize software milestones with new ThinkPad product development, validation, and release cycles.
  • Work closely with key ecosystem partners including silicon providers (e.g., Intel, AMD, Qualcomm), Microsoft, and thirdparty solution providers to align software requirements, dependencies, and readiness.
  • Ensure ThinkPad software solutions integrate effectively into enterprise IT environments, including device management, security, and lifecycle workflows.
  • Support software readiness, disclosure, and compliance activities required for global commercial deployment.
  • Contribute to portfolio planning and roadmap discussions for ThinkPad software and AI solutions.
  • Represent the voice of enterprise customers and IT administrators throughout the product lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years demonstrated experience in product management and ownership of product requirements.
  • Experience working in a matrixed and crossfunctional organization.
  • Working understanding of the Windowsbased software stack, including drivers, firmware, operating system components, embedded controller (EC), and userfacing applications.
  • Experience collaborating with external partners and technology vendors as part of a broader ecosystem.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years product management experience in software, platform, or enterprise products.
  • Project or program management experience managing crossteam and partner dependencies.
  • Experience working closely with or within a large commercial enterprise IT organization, including exposure to:
    • Windows OS deployment and lifecycle management
    • Enterprise device manageability and update strategies
    • Security, compliance, and policy enforcement
  • Ability to operate effectively in environments where software timelines must align with fixed hardware development and launch schedules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity working with technology partners such as OS vendors, silicon providers, or enterprise solution partners in a commercial product environment.
  • Experience supporting products tied to hardwaredriven development and launch cycles is a plus.
  • Strong passion for technology, including software platforms, the Windows OS ecosystem, and AIdriven solutions.

This role is based at our North America Headquarters in Raleigh, NC, with a hybrid schedule that includes three days onsite and two days remote each week. Candidates that are already local to Raleigh, NC are preferred.
