Location: Purchase, NY

What You'll Do:

The Staff Accountant will have direct involvement in the responsibilities of the various accounting groups. This individual will be a contributing member of the accounting department, responsible for supporting various teams with assignments that may include the monthly close process, the financial reporting process, compiling SOX support, reconciling balance sheet and P&L accounts, preparing and maintaining various analyses and ad-hoc projects. The individual will be encouraged to quickly learn and understand current processes, assess those processes, participate in discussions and feel comfortable to make suggestions for improvements where appropriate.

Reporting & Reconciliations:


  • Update departmental reports and compile ad-hoc analysis as required for monthly P&L and cash flow meetings, as well as internal and external reporting.
  • Perform timely monthly account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts.
  • Ensure that support for the reconciliations are in line with the internal SOX controls designated for each process.
  • Organize reconciliations and be prepared for monthly review meetings with Managers.


Monthly Journal Entries:


  • Perform timely analysis and data gathering for recording monthly recurring journal entries.
  • Ensure that support for the journal entries are in line with the internal SOX controls designated for each process.
  • Organize journals and be prepared for monthly review meetings with Managers.


Maintain Department Files:


  • Maintain accurate files and archives to ensure that all accounting activity is documented and supported, current and ready for both internal and external audit review.


What We're Looking For:


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience required.
  • Public/ Big 4 accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills; PowerPoint desirable.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with strict adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate a robust work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - must be comfortable working within a team environment.
  • Must be at a commutable distance (within 50 miles) to the Purchase, NY office

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including location, relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
