Mechanical Designer

Sentry Equipment Corp.
United States, Wisconsin, Oconomowoc
Jun 06, 2026

About the Role:

As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a critical role in the development and refinement of mechanical components and systems by creating detailed and accurate designs using advanced CAD software. Your work will directly contribute to the successful manufacturing and assembly of products, ensuring they meet both functional and quality standards. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate conceptual ideas into precise technical drawings and 3D models that guide production processes. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing methods to optimize designs for performance and cost-effectiveness. Ultimately, your contributions will help drive innovation and efficiency within the product development lifecycle, supporting the company's commitment to delivering high-quality mechanical solutions to clients across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience using SolidWorks and AutoCAD for mechanical design and drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to create detailed shop drawings and technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with additional CAD software such as CATIA or Inventor.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.
  • Background in design engineering within manufacturing or product development environments.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Certification in CAD software or mechanical design.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand design requirements and translate them into manufacturable designs.
  • Create and revise shop drawings and documentation to support manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Perform design reviews and incorporate feedback to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Maintain organized design files and documentation to facilitate efficient project tracking and version control.

Skills:

The required skills such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and solid modeling are essential for creating precise and manufacturable mechanical designs on a daily basis. Proficiency in CAD software enables the designer to efficiently develop 3D models and detailed 2D drawings that serve as blueprints for production teams. Mechanical design expertise ensures that the components meet functional requirements while optimizing for cost and manufacturability. Shop drawing skills are used to produce clear and accurate documentation that guides fabrication and assembly processes. Preferred skills like knowledge of GD&T and additional CAD platforms enhance the designer's ability to handle complex projects and adhere to industry standards, improving overall design quality and communication with engineering and manufacturing teams.
