The Opportunity

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Financial Aid Counselor to join the Enrollment Management - Worldwide team. This role plays a vital part in supporting student success by assisting in the administration of federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs. The Financial Aid Counselor provides guidance to students and families on financial aid eligibility, funding options, and the financial aid process while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

In this position, the Financial Aid Counselor will review and process financial aid applications, verify student information submitted through the FAFSA, and determine eligibility for various aid programs. The role also involves counseling students and families on scholarships, grants, loans, and other funding opportunities, while helping them understand their rights and responsibilities regarding financial aid.

The Financial Aid Counselor collaborates with internal teams to maintain accurate financial aid records, resolve discrepancies, and ensure the timely processing of aid awards. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while supporting student recruitment, retention, and completion initiatives.

Compensation

The hourly range for this position is $18.91. The final offer will consider the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, along with applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of financial aid experience or related work experience.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations and policies.

  • Experience with financial aid processing systems and automated student information systems.

  • Demonstrated experience performing financial aid verification and processing aid packages.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database systems.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively counsel students and families.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and student success.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends during peak periods.
