Area Manufacturing Manager - Maintenance & Reliability


The Area Manufacturing Manager (AMM) acts as a consultant to provide high level manufacturing expertise in the application of best available technology and practices across all 10 PCA mills with a focus on Maintenance & Reliability and Project Management. The AMM works with mill manufacturing and corporate resources to facilitate the exchange of best practices between mills.


Relocation not required - must be willing to travel 80%



Principle Accountabilities:



  • Assist mills with projects by evaluating the design and implementation to meet best practices.
  • Assist mills with root cause failure analyses.
  • Assist mills with paper machine roll rebuilds to meet PCA best practices.
  • Facilitate the scoping, design, and implementation of power/recovery equipment repairs and upgrades to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Collaborate with other corporate disciplines to troubleshoot issues in the mills.
  • Troubleshoot operations, manufacturing problems, and work with mill personnel to implement solutions.
  • Enhance operating procedures and manufacturing practices.
  • Evaluate, justify, and implement technological innovations.
  • Facilitates interchange of best practices between mills.
  • Work with the mills on major process enhancements and assist with the scoping, justification and provide startup assistance during capital projects.
  • Provides manufacturing support for annual shutdown and major monthly shutdown.
  • Adhere to all PCA policies and standards, with the goal of improving delivery of service to our customers.
  • Strives to continually strengthen PCA's business philosophy of meeting needs and exceeding expectations for customers. This includes supporting PCA's Commitment to Service which involves doing what's right for our customers, focusing on strategies that add value and support growth, and keeping the promises that we make.


  • Responsible for making recommendations on project improvements, personnel changes, engineering approaches, etc., and will have a significant impact on decisions made in these areas.


  • Interact with internal customers which includes mill manufacturing personnel, corporate resources, and corrugated products to ensure mill enhancements are focused on energy optimization, reliable operation, and minimizing environmental impact.



Position Requirements



  • A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge in pulp and paper mill operations and maintenance work systems.
  • Ability to lead and work with all levels of the organization. Strong verbal and oral communication skills.
  • Strong technical and manufacturing expertise in papermaking, preferably containerboard.
  • Ability to lead and work with all levels of the organization.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and CAD required.
  • Must be able to travel extensively (80%) and possess a valid U.S. driver's license.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS




  • Starting salary range for position: $129,500 - $185,000.
  • Bonus: Annual - Based upon individual contribution and overall, Company performance.
  • Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.

  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision - and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
