The primary function of the materials management function is to lead production warehousing and production planning. These functions are necessary to ensure a smooth flow of finished products to Bio-Rad's customers

How You'll Make An Impact:



  • Is the primary spokesperson for the Material function of the plant.
  • Main responsibility is to oversee the Production Planning, Supply Assurance, Inventory Control and Warehousing.
  • Participates in the product discontinuation process including excess & obsolete analysis and processing.
  • Works closely with the Manufacturing management and Global Planning and Procurement to gather information necessary to prepare schedules and to ensure sufficient materials are on hand to meet production requirements.
  • Adjusts plans and priorities to keep up with the changing or fluctuating production demand.
  • Troubleshoots problems and will consult with production management and other management personnel for assistance and if necessary for direction.
  • Prepares reports and data analysis as directed or as part of the on-going requirements of the material function.
  • Uses analytics to monitor production schedules and forecasts.
  • Provides direction and oversight for a Production Warehouse including end to end logistics management from receiving, kitting, shipping, cycle count management, optimal material flow, and SAP transactions.
  • Manages, evaluates performance and develops team members.
  • Assigns work, sets performance expectations, establishes priorities and monitors the output of supervisors and team members for completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
  • Participates in the planning for the introduction of new products, pilot production, and production to other manufacturing sites.
  • Functions as a key member of the Manufacturing Manager and/or Plant Manager's staff.
  • Ensures that schedules are revised to meet changing or fluctuating demand requirements and/or disruptions in production due to material or labor shortages.
  • Troubleshoots problems that impact the smooth flow of production and disrupt the established production schedules


What You Bring:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline and/or a combination of education and experience.
  • Work Experience: 8+ years manufacturing production experience, working in production, warehousing or production scheduling preferably in a regulated environment.
  • 5+ years of production planning and scheduling experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required.
  • APICS CPIM certification a plus
  • Familiarity with SAP and other manufacturing materials systems.
  • Proven project management capability.
  • Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, database software, internet software, manufacturing software).
  • Excellent leadership, influencing and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and proven problem solving capability along with demonstrated ability to make sound business decisions.
  • Experience developing subordinate supervisors and building high performance teams across multi-departmental organizations.
  • Advanced understanding of financial principles related to budgeting, variance and gross margin management, setting innovative performance metrics and standards.


Location: This position must be based in Hercules, California and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $137,600 to $180,000 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
