PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Director, Project Management provides strategic and operational leadership to a project management function delivering large and mega projects across complex, high risk environments. This role ensures that projects are executed in alignment with Worley's ambition to be recognized globally as a leader in sustainability solutions and in support of our commitment to Delivering Sustainable Change.

Operating with broad management authority, the Director drives excellence in project delivery, strengthens organizational capability, and embeds data-centric, integrated execution practices across consulting, engineering, installation, commissioning, decommissioning and remediation phases. The role partners closely with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, commercially sound, and sustainable outcomes across the asset lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Provide oversight and technical direction to project engineers, project managers, portfolio managers, and project management professionals within the function.
  • Identify, attract, develop and retain high performing project management talent aligned with Worley's sustainability vision and global growth strategy.
  • Establish a collaborative and accountable culture that promotes inclusion, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement departmental strategies in alignment with regional and global business plans.
  • Manage organizational structure, workforce planning, succession planning and performance management processes.

Project Delivery Excellence

  • Lead the delivery of large and mega projects in complex, high risk environments in compliance with Worley policies, systems and customer contractual requirements.
  • Oversee full lifecycle execution including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout, ensuring integration of sustainability objectives and value creation initiatives.
  • Champion Worley's project delivery methodology and associated digital tools to drive predictable, data-centric performance.
  • Ensure robust execution planning, including development and integration of project execution plans across engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, quality and health, safety and environmental disciplines.
  • Apply advanced work packaging principles and structured coordination processes to enhance efficiency and delivery certainty.
  • Lead proactive schedule management, forecasting, and recovery planning to address adverse trends.

Health, Safety, Environment and Security Leadership

  • Act as a visible advocate for health, safety, environmental and security excellence across all projects and teams.
  • Lead safety conversations, participate in site engagements, and ensure project specific health and safety plans are developed, implemented and continuously improved.
  • Oversee contractor safety management and promote a culture where safety principles extend beyond the workplace.

Commercial and Financial Stewardship

  • Plan, manage and control departmental budgets in accordance with approved policies and systems.
  • Ensure disciplined cost control, estimating and scheduling practices across projects.
  • Provide oversight of lump sum, reimbursable and unit price contracting strategies, including mixed contracting models.
  • Monitor gross margin performance, cash flow, work in progress and receivables to protect commercial outcomes.
  • Ensure effective change management and contract administration processes are implemented and adhered to.

Risk and Opportunity Management

  • Lead structured identification, assessment and mitigation of commercial, contractual, technical and operational risks.
  • Maintain and steward comprehensive risk registers, integrating risk management into business planning and project reviews.
  • Promote a forward looking approach to opportunity identification, supporting sustainable and value driven solutions.

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build trusted, long term relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and contractors.
  • Understand customer drivers and performance indicators and align project delivery strategies accordingly.
  • Support business development through proposal leadership, execution strategy development, cost review, and customer presentations.
  • Contribute to strategic alliancing, negotiations and capability positioning to strengthen Worley's role as a sustainability solutions partner.

Operational Governance and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure compliance with Worley systems, processes, governance frameworks and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to dispute resolution and claims management where required.
  • Support the development and refinement of project management systems, tools and digital practices.
  • Facilitate effective global workshare execution across multicultural and multinational environments.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILL SET

Education and Professional Credentials

  • Degree in engineering, project management, construction management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Professional registration in a relevant jurisdiction is valued.
  • Program or project management certification from a globally recognized professional body is advantageous.

Experience and Industry Expertise

  • Extensive experience in project management within energy, chemicals and resources sectors, including leadership of large and mega projects with significant risk profiles.
  • Demonstrated experience in EPCM and EPC delivery models, including site based assignments and full project lifecycle accountability.
  • Proven capability in multinational and multicultural project environments with global workshare execution.
  • Experience managing complex scope changes and multiple concurrent projects through delegated leadership structures.

Technical and Delivery Capability

  • Expert knowledge of integrated project delivery methodologies and digital project systems.
  • Advanced understanding of cost control, estimating and scheduling disciplines, with the ability to guide teams in mitigating risk and protecting margin.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute comprehensive project execution plans aligned with sustainability and value creation objectives.
  • Strong understanding of procurement strategies, subcontracting practices and contract management in complex commercial frameworks.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple data sources and translate insights into actionable direction.

Leadership and Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence in complex matrix organizations.
  • Strong people leadership capability including talent development, performance management, mentoring and succession planning.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical and commercial information clearly across diverse audiences and cultures.
  • Ability to foster open dialogue, resolve conflict constructively, and build high performing teams grounded in trust and accountability.

Strategic and Commercial Acumen

  • Strong understanding of business drivers, customer contracts and financial reporting standards.
  • Ability to make independent, far reaching decisions impacting long term strategy, regional performance and project success.
  • Demonstrated capability to align operational execution with Worley's ambition of increasing sustainability related revenue and delivering measurable sustainable outcomes.
