What you will do-

Aspen Aerogels, Inc. is searching for a highly motivated, resourceful and technically strong SEC Reporting Manager to join our Finance team. This hands-on role supports the preparation and review of SEC filings-including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, the Proxy Statement-as well as various internal and external reporting deliverables. The position plays a key part in maintaining internal controls over financial reporting, supporting the monthly close, and collaborating across functional departments.

The ideal candidate is a strong analytical thinker with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

How will you do it-

  • Lead the coordination and preparation of SEC filings including review of eXtensible Business Language (XBRL tagging).
  • Partner directly with Finance leadership to prepare quarterly earnings releases and investor presentations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly bank/lender compliance financial packages.
  • Support preparation of Audit Committee presentations
  • Lead the annual financial statement audit and quarterly reviews by providing audit schedules, support and responding to inquiries.
  • Support the monthly financial close including:

    • Stock-based compensation accounting: prepare journal entries, reconcile stock comp accounts, ensure appropriate valuation inputs, and support disclosure requirements under ASC 718
    • Lease accounting: maintain and update lease schedules, prepare monthly journal entries, reconcile ROU asset and lease liability balances, and ensure ASC 842 compliance.
    • Prepare additional journal entries for other functional areas as needed.
    • Analyze key accounts for U.S. GAAP compliance
    • Perform budget-to-actual comparisons and variance analyses
    • Assess the adequacy of reserves and accruals.


  • Drive ongoing development of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and compliance processes.
  • Support emerging internal and external segment reporting for the company's expanding operations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial information through monthly analysis and reconciliation; proactively identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, including working with department managers to develop forecasts.
  • Research technical accounting matters and drive the implementation of new U.S. GAAP standards.
  • Participate in special projects by supporting management and project teams across various tasks.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience with SEC reporting guidelines
  • Minimum 5 years in public accounting or public company environment
  • Expert-level Excel proficiency
  • Experience with Microsoft D365, DFIN or FloQast a plus.
  • CPA designation preferred

Expected Compensation: Between $125,000 and $145,000 USD/year based on experience. Yearly Bonus eligibility.
