Summary

As Director, Print Production & Studio Operations, you will lead the strategy, systems, and execution behind how our creative work gets made at scale. You'll oversee studio operations, print production, and post-production workflows, ensuring every deliverable meets the highest standards of craft, efficiency, and brand consistency.
This role blends operational leadership with deep production expertise. You'll build and optimize processes, manage and mentor a team of production artists and retouchers, oversee external partners, and serve as a trusted partner to Creative and Marketing leadership.

Responsibilities

Studio Leadership & Operations Strategy

  • Define and lead the vision, strategy, and operating model for the Production Studio
  • Oversee the end-to-end flow of all print and production work, ensuring efficiency, clarity, and scalability
  • Establish best practices, workflows, and systems that improve speed, quality, and resource allocation
  • Own and optimize Workfront (or equivalent) processes, reporting, and capacity planning
  • Maintain clear visibility into workload, timelines, and team health; proactively address resourcing needs
  • Champion operational excellence, documentation standards, and continuous improvement

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of production artists and retouchers
  • Set performance expectations, coach craft and operational rigor, and support career development
  • Manage freelance and external resources to flex capacity when needed
  • Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented studio culture

Print Production & Execution Excellence

  • Oversee execution of complex print, fabrication, and environmental projects from concept through delivery
  • Provide senior-level guidance on production feasibility, materials, substrates, and technical specifications
  • Establish quality control standards for mechanicals, proofs, and final files
  • Ensure color accuracy and brand consistency across all outputs
  • Troubleshoot technical production challenges and recommend best-in-class solutions

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Build and manage relationships with printers, fabricators, and production partners
  • Negotiate estimates, scopes, and contracts to ensure cost efficiency and quality
  • Oversee production budgets, forecasting, and spend tracking
  • Evaluate and onboard new partners, tools, and technologies

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Serve as the primary production lead for Creative, Marketing, and Operations stakeholders
  • Align priorities and timelines with senior leadership across teams
  • Provide clear status updates, risk management, and production expertise during planning
  • Help translate creative vision into feasible, high-quality outputs
Requirements
  • 8-12+ years of experience in print production, studio operations, or production leadership (in-house brand or agency)
  • Proven experience leading and developing production or post-production teams
  • Deep expertise in print production processes, fabrication methods, materials, and file preparation
  • Strong operational and systems thinker with experience building scalable workflows
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and external production partners
  • Advanced project management and prioritization skills
  • Experience with workflow tools (Workfront strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Excellent communication and leadership presence; able to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment

The salary range for this full-time position is $140,000.00 - $220,000.00, + bonus + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
