Looking for a role where your financial expertise supports meaningful, real-world impact? As a Financial Specialist with the Maricopa County Public Fiduciary, you play a vital role in protecting the financial well-being of vulnerable individuals in our community.

In this position, you'll manage fiduciary accounting functions, including accounts payable, receivables, and trust activity. Your work ensures accuracy, compliance, and stability for clients who rely on us to safeguard their financial resources. While this role operates behind the scenes, its impact is immediate and personal. Every transaction you process supports someone's safety, security, and quality of life.

You'll collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and County departments, and work with agencies such as Social Security, Veterans Affairs, AHCCCS, and the Arizona Department of Economic Security. You'll also serve as a professional and compassionate point of contact for the public.

We Require

  • Two years of accounting, bookkeeping, finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or purchasing experience
  • High school diplomaor GED
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis

Other Requirements

Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Driver's License by the time of hire.

  • Associate's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Three or more years ofaccounting, bookkeeping, finance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or purchasing experience
  • Experience with Trust/Fiduciary Accounting
  • Licensed Fiduciary with the Arizona Supreme Court
  • Proficiency in the CGI Advantage Financial System

Job Contributions

  • Prepares and processes fiduciary accounts, payables, and recurring expenditures with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Manages and processes all claims and invoices for daily payments, ensuring complete and proper documentation at every step
  • Provides timely and accurate posting of receipts and disbursements in strict accordance with departmental segregation of duties
  • Performs Electronic Funds Transactions (EFTs) with precision and in compliance with all applicable standards
  • Manages the Positive Pay system through ongoing coordination with financial institutions, maintaining the integrity of every transaction
  • Monitors client account balances on a monthly basis to ensure the continuance of government income entitlements, with careful attention to over-resource threshold requirements
  • Reviews documents to determine applicability and accuracy prior to entry into county and department systems, serving as a critical quality control checkpoint
  • Creates and monitors all financial action requests through the department's SharePoint system
  • Maintains an appropriate inventory of office equipment and supplies to keep operations running smoothly
  • Supports the broader Operations Division with financial expertise and collaborative problem-solving
  • Builds and sustains strong working relationships with staff, client providers, and representatives from state and local agencies
  • Serves as a knowledgeable and compassionate point of contact for the public, understanding that many individuals who interact with our department are navigating difficult circumstances

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an indoor office environment serving an extremely fast-paced fiduciary business
  • Interruptions, time pressures, a high volume of work, handling multiple or complicated tasks, unscheduled and frequently changing tasks, accuracy, decision making, concentration, vigilance, teamwork, workingin close proximity toothers, and public contact may be constant occurrences
  • May be required tolift upto 40 pounds from the floor to the waist and up to 30 pounds from the waist to the shoulder
  • May be required to carry, push/pull up to 10 poundsa distance of 20feet
