CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Overhead Transmission Engineer III to join our Electric Transmission Team in Syracuse, NY. In this role, you'll contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of overhead transmission engineering initiatives that enhance system reliability and improve grid resiliency.



What You'll Do:

    Independently complete engineering design, technical analysis, and preparation of specifications and reports for electric overhead transmission infrastructure projects, such as rebuilding existing overhead transmission lines and designing new green field transmission lines
  • Develop computation methods, technical reports, and specifications under the guidance of senior staff or technical leadership
  • Identify and resolve technical discrepancies, applying standard procedures and best practices that support grid reliability, safety, and infrastructure resilience
  • Monitor project progress and performance, acting quickly to resolve operational issues and minimize delays in critical electric overhead transmission system initiatives
  • Take responsibility for large portions of projects with oversight from senior staff or management, including field assignments


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required
  • Minimum of 3 years of related engineering experience required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Strong working and theoretical knowledge in the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply engineering knowledge in practical settings
  • Understanding of QA/QC procedures and regulatory standards
  • Proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS-CADD, etc.), as well as Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

Salary Range:

$95,000 - $105,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
