POSITION SUMMARY/DETAILS:
The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study. Work assignments are consistent with the work needs of the department and the company and provide meaningful and challenging work to the student. These project management co-op positions will report to Energy Supply project managers and support a variety of technical projects ranging in complexity, scope and time spans. Work will consist of a split between commercial (office building renovations and new construction) and industrial projects (power generation maintenance and improvements).

Accountabilities:
Typically, in addition to office work, students will work 50% of the time in the power stations and service areas, and will need to be hands on and be willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, etc., and to work in industrial environments which can be dirty.
Enrolled in an accredited Project Management or Construction Management program at a college or university.

Students must be willing and able to work in any of our services areas and power stations including:
-Big Bend Power Station in Apollo Beach, FL
-Bayside Power Station in Tampa, FL
-Polk Power Station in Mulberry, FL
-Other operational facilities as necessary to support projects (distribution, solar, etc.)

Physical Location of Co-op: Big Bend Station, CM Building 13031 Wyandotte Road Gibsonton, FL 33534

Working Conditions Combination of Plant/Field and Office environment. Must be willing and able to work in dusty, hot, and noisy environments.
Preferred Availability: Full time 40 hours per week will be within a Monday - Friday typically within a 8:00AM - 4:30PM window

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post-secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co-Op Requirements:To qualify as a co-op student, enrollment in the university's co-op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co-op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Required Degree: Enrolled in an accredited Project Management or Construction Management program at a college or university.
Preferred/Related Discipline: N/A
Year in School: Junior or Senior
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong communication and teamwork skills. Basic understanding of the project management, scheduling, and cost control processes. Familiarity with different contract types and contract administration. Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. Ability to analyze schedule and cost data and identify discrepancies.
