SUMMARY

The Project Manager III is responsible for the delivery of mid- to large scale engineering projects of moderate to high
complexity. The Project Manager III will ensure projects are submitted on time, on budget, and within scope while
meeting the project's contractual requirements and client expectations. The Project Manager III will focus business
development efforts on selling work to new potential clients and.
The Project Manager III will delegate technical project tasks to the team. The Project Manager III's time will encompass:
* 20% Project Management
* 30% People Management
* 50% Business Development
With the highest annual sales and revenue goals, a Project Manager III will have a span of control of a minimum of six
(6) to nine (9) employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSBILITIES

Project Management
* Execute and deliver mid-to large scale engineering projects of moderate and large complexity.
* Thoroughly review the project's contract and scope of work and create the Burns Unique Client Experience (BUCE)
plan to deliver the project on time, on budget, and in compliance with Burns (and, when applicable, a client's)
standards, policies, procedures, and engineering codes to avoid project write downs and change orders. (Project
write downs not to exceed 3% of net revenue.)
* Create and communicate a resource plan to delegate project tasks to the work team.
* Delegate project plan to Project / Senior Project Engineers and technical leaders to develop innovative design
solutions and engineering production methods to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and quality of project deliverables.
* Ensure completion of all Burns BUCE and QAQC established procedures for all applicable projects.
* Communicate out of scope work to clients to proactively receive change order approvals.
* Sign and seal engineering drawings.
* Collaborate with technical leads to coordinate the work of and review the work products of multidisciplinary teams.
* Work with clients to keep Accounts Receivable less than 60 days.
* Maintain the profitable multiplier (annual goal).
Client Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong client relationship through proactive and thorough communications and meeting and
exceeding client expectations.
* Address client feedback received during client satisfaction surveys
* Secure approval for change orders to avoid project write downs and out of scope work.

People Management
* Recruit, development, and retain top talent to grow team and the organization.
* Delegate the creation of project work plans to Project / Senior Project Engineers and technical leads.
* Delegate ongoing opportunities for professional growth and skill development to support career goals,
advancement, and succession plans within the organization to technical leads.
* Mentor employees to support strong succession planning bench for the team and the business unit.
* Define clear and measurable goals, assess employee performance, and provide feedback and recognition.
Complete annual performance reviews.
* Implement strategies and activities to create and support high performing teams.
* Ensure compliance of all Human Resources and Burns' policies and procedures and federal, state, and local
regulations.

Business Development
* Build 3X3 client contact network
* Submit strategic plans to be included in the annual business plan.
* Execute on assigned annual business plan activities.
* Build and maintain strong relationships of existing firm clients.
* Successfully evaluate teaming partners to advance Burns position of winning project work.
* Leverage 3X3 client relationships to gain intel to provide Burns with a competitive edge.
* Accurately and thoroughly complete assessment to win project work.
* Work with technical leads and the Proposal Team to prepare scopes, budgets, fee schedules, and resource plans
for proposals.
* Leverage network to expand recognition in the industry.
* Expand decision maker network to support sales wins of new clients.
* Business development activities should focus on winning mid- to large scale projects with high complexity and
attracting new clients to Burns.
Compliance
* Perform all tasks in compliance with Burns (and, when applicable, a client's) standards, policies, procedures, and
engineering codes.
* Perform all tasks efficiently, accurately, within the allotted project hours, and complete tasks on or before the due
date.
* Adhere to all Human Resources policies and procedures.
* Partner with Human Resources Business Partner to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local employment
regulations.
* Adhere to all Burns operational and quality policies and procedures.
* Complete special duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Manager III will have formal supervisory responsibilities, with a span of control of a minimum of six (6) to
nine (9) employees

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's (B.S.) Engineering degree from a four-year college or university accredited engineering program.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 13 years of progressive engineering experience.
Minimum of 7 years of experience managing mid- to large scale projects, people, client relationships, and business
development. Manage a team of 7+ employees.

CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Registered Professional Engineer License in one of the major technical disciplines practiced by the firm strongly
preferred.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
* Consistently meeting sales and revenue goals of $2.5M+ (each)
* Ability to deliver projects achieving strong profitability (18% +)
* Ability to efficiently deliver projects with an average project write down of 3% or lower
* Strong business development skills specifically creating a sales strategy resulting in closed sales.
* Successfully managing scope, budget, timeline, and resources for small to mid-sized project across multiple
clients and regions.
* Ability to create and execute a business plan focused on growth
* Increased project portfolio through business development efforts.
* Effectively dealt with difficult and complex situations.
* Strong knowledge of contracts.
* Ability to recruit, develop and retain top talent.
* High client satisfaction and employee engagement scores.
* Effectively collecting fees in arrears and meeting AP goals.
* Compliance with QAQC procedures.
