Nurse Coordinator
Job Summary
The Nurse Coordinator plays a central role in providing clinical oversight and care coordination for the Meningioma Program within the Parnassus Department of Neurosurgery, Division of Neuro-Oncology. The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate comprehensive clinical support to Neuro-Oncology patients and providers participating in the Meningioma Program. The Nurse Coordinator upholds the standards, policies, and procedures of the Neurosurgery Faculty Practice and ensures compliance with all UCSF Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies, including those related to infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice.
The Nurse Coordinator plays a central role in the clinical oversight and coordination of the Meningioma Program. This position provides comprehensive clinical support to Neuro-Oncology patients and providers, working closely with interdisciplinary teams across Neuro-Oncology, Neurosurgery, and Radiation Oncology.
The Nurse Coordinator ensures that patients receive seamless, coordinated care throughout their brain tumor journey and that all therapies are delivered safely, ethically, and in compliance with regulatory standards. Experience collaborating with senior leadership, research staff, and cross-departmental teams across UCSF is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in oncology nursing, neurosurgery nursing, and/or radiation oncology, along with a demonstrated ability to manage complex programs and drive outcomes in a fast-paced academic medical environment.
Serving as a key liaison among patients, families, research teams, and medical providers, the Nurse Coordinator facilitates clear communication and coordination across disciplines, manages protocol-specific procedures, and ensures the delivery of world-class, patient-centered care. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, this role is pivotal in advancing the quality, efficiency, and integration of care for patients with meningiomas.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $91.20 - $118.34 (Hourly Rate). Department Description The Division of Neuro-Oncology at UCSF cares for patients with central nervous system tumors (CNS brain tumors) from diagnosis, through all stages of their illness, including hospice and death. Approximately 6,500 patients per year are seen in the outpatient clinic. Patients are treated with standard of care therapies as well as research protocols.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years of recent clinical RN experience in the specialty area or equivalent leadership experience
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification
- In-depth knowledge of one or more clinical specialty areas, to include diagnoses, treatments, standards of practice, and patient/family educational consulting and resources.
- Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess highly complex issues and develop multiple options for resolution.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide education, training, and direction to nursing staff, and to develop positive working relationships with patients, families, employees, and outside agencies as required.
- Advanced skills in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey complex and/or sensitive information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, prioritize required projects, and meet the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities.
- Demonstrated experience in training others, particularly in the field of research.
- Good interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, and mentorship. Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others and collaborate to help solve problems. Works well with others to achieve common goals. Ability to cultivate relationships with multiple stakeholders at various levels of administration.
- Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Effectively uses the campus's clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability in utilizing clinical trial management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of supervisory experience and/or equivalent combination of experience and training
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- Experience within Neuro-Oncology clinical trials as a research nurse
- Working knowledge of clinical or laboratory research, clinical trial recruitment, eligibility, protocol adherence, quality data submission, and adverse event reporting.
- Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society within one year in the position.
- Current ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider card
- CNIII classification
License/Certification
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification
