Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Data Control Clerk II for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

To facilitate and expedite patient flow in the Hemophilia Treatment Center by creating, transcribing and completing documentation in the patient medical record, with inclusion of appropriate ICD-9/ ICD-10, CPT-4 codes. Facilitate data flow for physicians in the Hemophilia Treatment Center.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Completely and accurately documents pertinent information on the patient's medical record from the point of patient entry into the electronic medical record, through the discharge of the patient.
  • Facilitates the acquisition, compilation, and communication of diagnostic test results in an expeditious manner to facilitate patient flow.
  • Effectively communicates with all healthcare providers in the Hemophilia Treatment Center to enhance the coordination of patient care and facilitate patient flow.
  • Acts as a catalyst to the system to expedite patient flow by collaborating with the physician on patient priority.
  • Behaves professionally towards patients and families insuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Two (2) years of clerical experience, one (1) year of which shall have experience with PC software packages.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Basic computer skills in Windows environment.
  • Proficient typing skills.
  • Polished interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Pre-med, EMT, paramedic, nursing or medical related courses.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records.
  • Experience as a medical scribe.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Ability to work at computer station for extended periods. Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
  • Work Environment: Potential exposure to blood and infectious material.
