Job Summary The Structured Cabling Technician II is responsible for installing, routing, terminating, and organizing copper and fiber cabling in data center environments. This role supports new construction and expansion projects by building cable pathways, pulling and dressing cables, assisting with testing, and ensuring all work meets project specifications and industry standards. The technician works closely with Leads and Foremen, coordinates with other trades, and helps maintain clean, safe, and highly organized work areas in secure facilities. Job Responsibilities Arrive on site, badge in, and participate in daily safety or morning huddles Review daily tasks and priorities with the Lead or Foreman Gather required tools, materials, and PPE and prepare for the shift Build and install cable pathways including ladder rack, basket tray, and J-hooks Measure, level, and secure pathways according to drawings and industry standards Coordinate with other trades when working in shared overhead or confined spaces Pull, route, and label copper and fiber cables while maintaining proper bend radius and support Terminate copper cabling (Cat6 and Cat6A) and assist with fiber terminations Dress and organize cabling into racks, cabinets, and patch panels Perform basic cable testing or assist testing technicians with continuity and visual checks Communicate work progress, issues, and material needs to the Lead throughout the day Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, especially in data center environments Return tools and unused materials at the end of the shift Update cable counts, notes, logs, or documentation as requested Review next-day tasks and expectations before leaving the site Assist with installation of racks, cabinets, and related infrastructure hardware Support training or guidance of newer installers when needed Job Requirements Proven experience installing copper and fiber cabling in data center environments on new projects Ability to build and install cable pathways including ladder rack, basket tray, and J-hooks Experience pulling, routing, labeling, and dressing cables to industry standards Working knowledge of Cat6 and Cat6A terminations; basic understanding of fiber terminations Ability to read and interpret basic drawings, floor plans, and cable routing diagrams Experience assisting with cable testing and certification using Fluke testing equipment Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with Leads, Foremen, and other trades Commitment to following all safety policies, site protocols, and quality standards Ability to work in high-security, fast-paced data center environments Physical ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and work overhead as required Education High school diploma or equivalent preferred Work Experience Previous experience as a structured cabling technician or installer in data center projects Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 401(k) Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.) Schedule is Monday through Friday with a 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. start time Work is performed primarily in data center environments with strict security and safety requirements Reliable attendance and punctuality are required Candidates must provide their own work boots and basic hand tools; power tools are a plus
