Job Summary The Data Center Technician III is a senior-level technical role responsible for maintaining the operational integrity, safety, and reliability of critical data center facilities. This position requires advanced hands-on expertise in mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems, along with a strong understanding of data center operating procedures and compliance requirements. The technician leads shift activities, supports continuous operations through effective handoffs, manages vendor work, and ensures all maintenance and administrative tasks are completed accurately through established ticketing and change management processes. Job Responsibilities

Perform advanced operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical data center infrastructure systems.

Support mechanical systems including chilled water systems and components, HVAC equipment, rooftop units, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems, and central plant operations.

Lead shift handoffs, clearly communicating system status, active issues, and ongoing maintenance activities.

Respond to incidents, alarms, and work requests using a ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and thorough documentation.

Oversee vendor-performed maintenance and repairs, including reviewing, coordinating, and closing out methods of procedure (MOPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Conduct detailed inspections of physical building components related to critical facilities operations.

Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements at all times.

Provide guidance and technical support to junior technicians as needed.

Exclude telecommunications cabling and wiring activities, focusing strictly on critical facilities systems.
Job Requirements

Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems within a data center or critical facilities environment.

Demonstrated hands-on experience with chilled water systems, HVAC systems, CRAC/CRAH units, humidification systems, and central plant operations.

Strong understanding of data center operational procedures, change management, and ticketing systems.

Proven ability to manage vendors and coordinate work in a mission-critical environment.

Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in mechanical spaces.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Technical education or certifications in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, or facilities engineering are preferred.
Work Experience

Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities, or a comparable mission-critical facilities role.

Prior experience in a senior or lead technician capacity is preferred.
