SUMMARY

It is the responsibility of the Intake Supervisor I to oversee the high-volume intake processes required for the Older Adult Protective Services Program in Montgomery County. This complex program, based on the Older Adult Protective Services Act, addresses the needs of the most vulnerable and at-risk older adults. This role requires the timely and thorough oversight of the process of completing Reports of Need (RON). RONs involve reporting alleged abuse, neglect, exploitation, and abandonment of those 60 years of age and older.

The Intake Supervisor I provides direct supervision to a team of Protective Service Intake Caseworkers. Protective Services investigations require accurate and timely reports to be entered into an electronic state database, SAMS/WellSky A&D, and an internal tracking form in Excel. Each situation is unique and requires careful consideration and thorough information processing. The Intake Supervisor I must provide consultation to Intake Caseworkers throughout this process and ensure fair and equitable case assignments to investigators in consultation with the Protective Services Supervisor II.

The Intake Supervisor I must have a working knowledge of the intake process including all notifications to other counties, under 60 providers, DOH, DHS, and others as required. This supervisor will also be responsible for the management of the on-call coverage provider contracted by Montgomery County to manage intake services after normal business hours, on holidays, and other times internal staff are unable to cover the 24/7 Protective Services Hotline.

The Intake Supervisor I will provide direct supervision to all Protective Services Intake Caseworkers, including report of need confirmations, supervision and annual evaluations, case assignments, and ensuring the Protective Services Hotline has coverage when necessary.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision and management of a team of Protective Services Intake Caseworkers in the Older Adult Protective Services Program.

  • Supervision, regular meetings, and technical assistance for the on-call coverage provider handling after hours intake coverage.

  • Verifies and supports annual training requirements are met by all OAS intake and on-call provider staff.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of the Older Adult Protective Services Act and program implementation.

  • Maintains annual training and basic training requirements set forth by the PA Department of Aging.

  • Ensures timely and accurate RONs alleging abuse, neglect, financial exploitation and abandonment, are completed by all department and on-call staff.

  • Ensures protective service RONs are complete alongside all mandatory reporting requirements for all RONs received.

  • Management of an internal database tracking all calls to the 24/7 Montgomery County local Hotline for OAPS and all RONs taken by the PA State HelpLine for Protective Services.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of services, resources, and regulations governing programs designed to service. consumers in Montgomery County and across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  • Maintains attendance at PA Department of Aging required meetings and other ongoing meetings as required.

  • Assists with maintaining coverage of the local Hotline including taking RONs, reviewing RONs and assigning cases with support of Protective Services Supervisor II.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Three years of experience in public or private social work (experience working with older adults preferred) and a bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training including successful completion of 12 semester hours of college level courses in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other related social sciences.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to drive to various places throughout Montgomery County on a regular basis. Must be able to carry a laptop to meet with consumers in the community. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time to complete extensive case record documentation. Case documentation is done via a computer.

Onsite, in-person attendance is required as directed by supervisor.

This position requires the following clearances as a condition of employment: Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Record History, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
