Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC is seeking an experienced Manager of Investment Policy to lead and oversee our Global Asset Management (GAM) solutions investment policy function. This strategic leadership role combines deep analytical expertise with cross-functional collaboration to ensure regulatory compliance, maintain and enhance fund performance, and drive operational excellence across our institutional investment offerings. The successful candidate will lead a team of skilled professionals while managing complex initiatives across North American and global operations.

What will you do?

  • Lead and mentor a North American-based team of investment policy professionals supporting institutional clients in Canada and the US
  • Foster a high-performing culture that emphasizes quality delivery, continuous improvement, and professional development
  • Manage team resources and capacity planning to optimize productivity and service delivery
  • Ensure daily trading alert reviews are conducted with appropriate governance and escalation protocols
  • Oversee development, maintenance, and enhancement of Investment Policy Statements for GAM fund, pool, and model solutions
  • Act as backup to the global BlueBay Investment Policy desk during peak periods, ensuring business continuity
  • Oversee coordination of periodic investment mandate reviews, including breach analysis and stakeholder governance
  • Oversee peer group database management using Morningstar, Mercer, and consultant data
  • Guide analysis of peer group characteristics, alpha targets, and value-added objectives to inform investment strategy
  • Lead audit delivery processes across the team; identify and implement improvements to enhance procedures and remove ambiguities
  • Expand and oversee risk control metrics and monitoring frameworks for GAM fund development
  • Best Execution and Trade Cost Analysis
  • Drive automation of day-to-day processes and GAM solution analysis tools to enhance team efficiency and reduce manual work
  • Lead migration initiatives and transformation efforts across the global target operating model
  • Lead project deliverables across the North American Institutional team, ensuring timely completion while optimizing resource allocation
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance touchpoints and operational procedures
  • Represent RBC GAM to prospects and clients as part of due diligence and relationship management activities
  • Serve as escalation point for complex client and stakeholder issues
  • Prepare presentations on investment policy matters to senior management and external stakeholders

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 5+ years of experience in investment policy, fund management, regulatory compliance in financial services
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills with expertise in investment management platforms and peer group analysis
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects and to deliver complex initiatives on time and within budget
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for both internal and client-facing interactions
  • Strategic thinking with ability to identify process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks in institutional asset management

Nice-to-have

  • 3+ years of team leadership or management experience
  • CFA charter or equivalent professional designation
  • Familiarity with Charles River or similar institutional investment platforms
  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams
  • Experience with trade cost analysis (TCA) and best execution frameworks
  • Background in equity or fixed income trading and market microstructure

The expected salary range for this particular position is $70,000-$130,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
