We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now. You will join Worley at a pivotal time, supporting complex power generation projects that sit at the intersection of reliability, performance, and the energy transition. This role is designed for a commissioning leader who thrives in technically demanding environments and enjoys working shoulder-to-shoulder with project teams, clients, and operators to bring facilities safely and efficiently to life. You will be trusted to apply deep technical expertise while maintaining a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset. Your work will directly influence plant performance, safety outcomes, and long-term asset value. Purpose of the role Play an integral role in leading the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of large-scale power generation facilities. You will ensure systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated in a manner that achieves operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and optimal performance prior to handover. The role blends engineering rigor, operational insight, and people leadership to deliver successful outcomes across the full project lifecycle. Core Responsibilities You will be responsible for: *Providing overall commissioning leadership for steam, gas turbine, and combined-cycle power generation projects, from early planning through start-up and handover. *Directing commissioning planning deliverables, including execution strategies, systemization, schedules, procedures, and resource plans. *Working closely with Engineering to define and validate all engineering deliverables, including load versus supply curves that support commissioning and start-up activities. *Establishing start-up sequencing, durations, and logic through commissioning and start-up, forming a template that supports early project schedule development (Level 2-3) and procurement flow paths. *Integrating commissioning activities into the overall project schedule, ensuring strong links to construction, procurement, and vendor milestones. *Managing commissioning manpower, vendor resources, and specialist support, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) for critical packages. *Providing hands-on technical leadership for complex systems including boilers, steam turbines, generators, balance of plant, instrumentation, and controls. *Conducting or overseeing thermal performance, heat rate, fluid dynamics, and system stress analysis using industry tools such as ANSYS or Thermoflex. *Ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including ASME PTC 22, OSHA, environmental requirements, NERC, and TCEQ. *Driving a strong safety culture during commissioning and start-up, with clear procedures, risk assessments, and field leadership. *Validating operational readiness by ensuring equipment operates safely, reliably, and at peak efficiency prior to turnover to operations. *Supporting capital and O&M budgets, commissioning cost control, and performance optimization initiatives. *Coordinating closely with project management, construction, operations, and client teams to ensure seamless project delivery. *Supporting grid integration and operational readiness with regional transmission organizations such as ERCOT. #LI-JS4 What you'll bring to the role: *Extensive commissioning and start-up experience in power generation, with a strong focus on gas turbines, steam systems, and combined-cycle facilities. *A First Class Power Engineer or Chief certification, enabling supervision of power plants of any capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. *Demonstrated capability to act as Chief Engineer or Senior Shift Supervisor, with accountability for operations, maintenance, and safety. *A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a First Class Power Engineering Certificate or equivalent. *Strong working knowledge of Rankine cycle theory, power plant thermodynamics, instrumentation, controls, and balance-of-plant systems. *Proven experience leading commissioning planning, procedure development, O&M deliverables, and start-up execution on large capital projects. *Solid project management capability, including schedule integration, capital planning, and cost control across commissioning and operations scopes. *Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including mentoring, training, and developing engineers, technicians, and operators. *A practical, safety-first mindset with the confidence to make sound technical decisions in high-risk, high-consequence environments. *Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred. Benefits Feel the energy at Worley with access to a range of benefits including: paid-time off, holiday pay (usually 8 per year in the US), and eligibility to participate in the medical, life, dental, and vision insurance plans, as well as 401K plan.
