Technical Product Manager (CMH Health)

Milliman, Inc
life insurance, parental leave, paid time off, 401(k)
United States, Illinois, Chicago
71 South Wacker Drive (Show on map)
Feb 06, 2026
Description

Individual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.

Software Engineering and Product Management are changing faster than we've witnessed in the past. When GenAI can generate UI scaffolding and boilerplate on demand, the differentiator isn't "writing tickets"-it's turning ambiguous, high-stakes work into repeatable capability.

We are moving from traditional professional service delivery to selling outcomes and subscriptions. That shift only works if we build a product engine that is fast, safe, and grounded in real domain workflows.

CMH Health is hiring a Technical Product Manager to help lead that transformation. You'll operate at the intersection of Healthcare + actuarial workflows, Platform engineering, and AI productization. We want the team building the future of healthcare work to represent the people affected by it. If you're excited about the mission but don't match every bullet, apply anyway-we care more about trajectory, judgment, and learning velocity than perfect backgrounds.

Job responsibilities

  • Build an internal AI platform and product portfolio that materially changes how healthcare consulting work is delivered-faster time-to-production, more reuse, higher reliability, and a clearer line-of-sight from "feature" to "business outcome."
  • Provide platform product leadership

    • Own the roadmap for an internal AI platform (IDP-style) with "golden paths" that make safe delivery the default.
    • Define and ship platform capabilities such as: agent registry, prompts and new models, evaluation harnesses, agent/workflow runtimes, notebook-to-service pathways, and observability.
    • Oversee new products, existing products and associated features.

  • Facilitate AI-enabled workflow and product development

    • Identify high-leverage workflows (documents, data pipelines, reporting, bid prep) and turn them into productized automations.
    • Design LLM-enabled experiences that reduce "clicks to outcomes," without creating chaos, ambiguity, or hidden failure modes.
    • Build quality and trust into the product: evaluation strategy, human-in-the-loop patterns, auditability, and clear UX around uncertainty.

  • Perform domain immersion + customer discovery

    • Spend time with the people doing the work-consultants, analysts, principals-to understand the real workflow, not the slide deck version.
    • Translate domain logic into product requirements that engineering can implement and that users will actually adopt.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in product management for technical products (platforms, workflow tools, B2B SaaS, or complex internal systems).
  • Strong technical fluency: you can reason about APIs, data models, service boundaries, and delivery tradeoffs.
  • Practical experience shipping AI/ML or LLM-enabled features (including an understanding of model/product lifecycle: data, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, governance).
  • Proven ability to prioritize and execute: you can simplify scope while protecting the core value.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication: concise, structured, and persuasive to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Competencies that Support Success in this Role

  • We're optimizing for judgment, clarity, and systems thinking-not keyword bingo.
  • Define success metrics up front, instrument usage, and close the loop after launch.
  • Drive adoption: documentation, enablement, internal marketing, and iterative improvement based on behavioral data.
  • Healthcare, actuarial, pharmacy, provider or "complex regulated domain" experience.
  • Experience with platform thinking: internal marketplaces, reusable components, golden paths, and adoption strategy.
  • Think big, then ship in increments: You can describe a compelling end-state and still deliver a v1 that people use.
  • Ruthlessly prioritize: You aim for compounding impact and avoid "feature entropy."
  • Earn trust through craft: You set quality bars for UX clarity, evaluation rigor, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Stay close to the work: You learn the domain by watching it happen.
