Description

The Associate Director of Incident Management serves to promote and protect the reputation of UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. The shared mission of the organization is clinical care, medical education, research, and community service.

Reporting to and supporting the Senior Director of Communications, the Associate Director of Incident Management plays a crucial role in developing and executing, multi-tactic communications plans incorporating elements of media relations, patient communications, web content, internal communications, social media, and other Marketing and Communications functions. The position also contributes to day-to-day management of news media inquiries posing reputational risk and supports enterprise communications promoting institutional milestones and priorities.

The Associate Director of Incident Management identifies and recommends opportunities for enhanced efficiency in crisis communications, issues and reputation management, and enterprise communications.

The position collaborates and coordinates with personnel across Marketing and Communications, including Government Relations, and at all levels across the enterprise. This includes UCLA Health and School of Medicine executives as well as Legal, Risk Management, Compliance, Emergency Preparedness, Security, and the Office of Patient Experience. Other collaborations include UCLA Strategic Communications, UC Office of the President, and colleagues throughout UC Health campuses.

Note: This position is full-time in the Communications office.

Salary Range: $95,400-$208,300/annually

Qualifications

We're seeking a
strategic and talented individual with:

Required:

  • A
    bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or
    related field
  • 8
    or more years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
    in crisis communications, issues, and reputation management, and enterprise
    communications, preferably in health care or higher education setting
  • Ability
    to manage multiple, complex responsibilities, analyze risks, work independently
    and make decisions amid multiple deadlines and shifting circumstances in a
    fast-paced environment
  • Strategic
    thinker and effective communicator with proven track record of developing and
    executing communications plans that apply strategies and tactics to achieve
    identifiable objectives
  • Ability
    to earn trust and work with stakeholders at all levels of the enterprise
  • Knowledgeable
    of integrated roles of Marketing and Communications units and proven ability to
    leverage each to achieve objectives

Preferred:

  • Academic,
    health care, research and/or science experience
