JOB MISSION:

The Network Facilities Project Engineer will play a leading role in designing and overseeing the implementation of IDFs, MDFs, racks, conduit & cabling infrastructure for New Balance sites worldwide. Projects include new site builds, expansions, remodels, closures, and upgrades.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • * Develop and advocate for technical standards, design guides and other references in order to drive standardized network infrastructure globally.
  • * Work with variety of stakeholders including Real Estate/Facilities, Manufacturing/Distribution technologists, and IT peers to gather requirements, scope new projects, and develop the network infrastructure plans for each project.
  • * Directly manage US network facilities projects; provide consultation / guidance for international projects.
  • * Prepare project proposals including associated drawings, milestones, and project budgets.
  • * Physically walk the sites in New England area to gain a thorough understanding of the MDFs, IDFs and cable runs; and handle remote projects either directly via occasional travel or through local 3rd party or New Balance resources.
  • * Represent the wider Network team as needed in project meetings.
  • * Coordinate and manage the implementation and commissioning activities of vendors, junior techs, and other stakeholders. Ensure quality of product and installation.
  • * Produce simple & concise documentation around project budgets, Implementation Plans, technical drawings, project management artifacts, and operational handoffs as necessary.
  • * Develop detailed bill of materials to procure goods & services for projects.
  • * Provide light Project Management support for activities around new facilities, adds, removes and changes.
  • * Maintain an inventory of current network facilities builds.
  • * Read CAD drawings, mark up the cabling paths and drops.
  • * Maintain the lifecycle currency of network facilities infrastructure.
  • * Provide occasional Tier 3 support, which involves troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and integration activities upon escalation.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:

  • * One or more industry certifications related to structured cabling (e.g., BICSI or other) or demonstrable experience following the standards.
  • * Knowledge / proficiency with associated ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801, TIA standards.
  • * Experience working in large enterprise environments.
  • * General knowledge of network and audio-visual technology and architecture.
  • * Ability to read and interpret basic CAD or other facilities drawings.
  • * Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects at one time.
  • * Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • * Ability to remotely manage local resources to accomplish project objectives.
  • * Strong requirements gathering skills.
  • * Strong documentation skills; basic proficiency in Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, Visio, SharePoint).
  • * Preferred: International experience, working with EMEA and APAC standards, vendors and peers.
  • * Experience building network facilities in Manufacturing, Distribution environments, and/or retail environments.
Boston, MA Headquarters - (NB) Only Pay Range: $88,500.00 - $110,000.00 - $131,500.00 Annual (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)

Flexible Work Schedule

Our North American hybrid model encourages rich in-person experiences, showcasing our commitment to teamwork and connection, while maintaining flexibility for associates. New Balance Associates currently work in office three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Our offices are fully open, and amenities are available across our North American office locations. To continue our focus on hybrid work we have introduced "Work from Anywhere" (WFA) for four weeks per calendar year.
