The Instructional Designer will develop and implement high quality and timely trainings for factory employees at different levels of the organization often using technology to meet specific learning objectives. They will work with various cross-functional teams to shape how learners acquire knowledge and skills, ensuring that educational content is engaging, relevant and effective to support operations goals.
Scope of Responsibilities
- Develop training courses and materials with instructional design principles that engages employees, addresses their individual needs, learning styles, and maximizes knowledge retention.
- Create and organize a digital library of bite-sized e-Learning courses ranging from soft to technical skills to boost confidence and performance ROI.
- Design and develop training manuals, troubleshooting guides, videos, and other course materials, by applying best practices in adult learning theory.
- Proficient in Learning Management System (LMS) course management and authoring tools, such as training project plans, design documents, and job breakdowns.
- Ability to work independently and execute training projects in changing environments and work processes.
- Apply ID industry knowledge, new learning tools, and trends to internal practices.
- Conceptualize and develop content to communicate business strategy to factory workforce.
- Design and develop extensive training material library (videos, PowerPoint, simulators, OPL, etc.) for all operations departments to have available on the training database and training rooms.
- Manages current training database such as Poka, Alchemy and SharePoint.
- Support maintenance department in capturing videos for breakdown analysis and troubleshooting.
- Assist with campaigns from industrial performance, serving as the content creator for LPW teams.
- Create digital and analog visual signage and communication for hallways, factory, and cafeteria.
- Collaborate with SMEs and other department staff to analyze the learning needs of the target audience and the organization's goals to determine what knowledge and skills need to be developed.
- Identify and analyze key skills and procedures from experienced employees through both observation and conversation.
- Recommend user experience improvements to applications or layouts in current classes and trainings.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of learning materials and programs, gathering feedback and making revisions to improve learning outcomes.
- Occasionally support with plant employee interviewing.
- Perform other duties as required.
Specific Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in education, technical field or a closely related field.
- 5 years' experience in developing instructional materials and developing blended and e-learning solutions in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with LMS (Alchemy preferred), or learning management software, video production, and graphic design.
- Familiarity with design programs.
- Familiar to analyze skill management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
- Excellent communication, relationship buildings and graphic design skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Soft skills: adaptability, problem solving, time management, persuasion, conflict resolution, organization and decision making.

- Required to regularly sit at a workstation.
- Occasionally required to stand or walk.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- This position must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail.
- Potential for very warm or very cold working environment/depending on area of assignment.
- Interfacing with various manufacturing equipment and office computer equipment.
- Flexibility around work hours to interact with key employees on all shifts (24-hour facility).
Salary: $83800 - $108930 / year
