Job Description

Provide advanced department, divisional and/or segment focused business and operational to include strategic planning, business relationship management, business plan development, workforce planning, reporting, data and/or budget analysis, internal/external marketing and special projects.

What You'll Do

Business and Strategic Planning

  • Build and facilitate repeatable and company-focused strategic planning processes that include confirmation of continued relevance, progress evaluation and communication to affected stakeholders.
  • Lead the coordination, planning and facilitation of various departmental/divisional events (i.e. Departmental Summits, All Hands Meetings, Leadership Planning Sessions, staff meetings) to ensure they are effective, purposeful and outcomes based.
  • Manage the overall workforce plan and staffing models, taking into account multiple and interrelated initiatives to either increase or decrease headcount, each with their own set of success criteria/outcomes, timelines, and budget impact.
  • Maintain accountability for workforce-related budgets, including tracking employee hires by cost center, budget and competency in alignment with the Strategic Plan and other key inputs.
  • May produce segment business plans and analysis under guidance from Segment Lead.
  • Facilitate the adoption of standard operating procedures (SOP) and assist with communication and education of new processes both within and outside the department.
  • Facilitate change management work efforts to support business and process improvements and overall departmental/divisional effectiveness.
  • Promote departmental growth and development by aligning strategic initiatives, workforce planning and financial stewardship with organizational priorities.

Project Management

  • Lead special projects for the department/division/segment as assigned, exercising independent judgement and ownership from initiation through completion. Possible duties could include:
  • Evaluation of operational and financial opportunities to reduce costs, improve efficiencies, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Review and evaluation of best or next practice opportunities for potential adoption.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations based on important industry literature and emerging trends; ensure leadership is informed of issues relevant to strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Serve as lead on engagements with external entities (i.e. consultants) coordinating data gathering analysis, and research efforts in alignment with leadership direction.
  • Manage and track departmental/division initiatives/projects, and independently develop presentations summarizing progress, risks, outcomes, and financial implications for varied audiences, including ILT and Senior Leadership.

Data Analysis/Reporting

  • Consolidate, standardize, and maintain accurate data analysis and reporting for business operations..
  • Provide analysis and insights for proposed strategic initiatives by leveraging a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end departmental and divisional operations.
  • Maintain accountability for managing and monitoring multiple cost center budgets including:
    • Budget forecasting and variance analysis
    • Identification of risks, trends, and cost drivers
    • Progress monitoring against administrative cost reduction goals
  • Provide monthly budget performance reporting and education to leaders and teams, ensuring clear understanding of budget status, variances, and corrective actions needed.
  • Track, analyze, and report on progress toward strategic and operational goals, including collection and evaluation of key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and data integrity to support accurate financial and operational decision making.

Business Partnerships

  • Strengthen business partnerships and stakeholder relationships through proactive communication, collaboration and continuous process improvement.
  • Serve as trusted advisor to leaders by translation financial, operational, and strategic data into actionable insights.
  • Facilitate completion of the Annual Report, CEO/Board reports, and other marketing/communication deliverables with a focus on partnering to deliver communications that are relevant and oriented to specific business partnerships both internal and external.
  • Provide input and recommended strategy for leadership's public speaking engagements and/or industry Board or committee meetings.
  • Coordinate and manage vendor relationships as required by business operations' needs.

This role is accountable for independent ownership of financial and operational outcomes, proactive identification of improvement opportunities, transparent communication of budget performance, and fostering a culture accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Salary Range

At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed.
