HDR is seeking a Senior Municipal Smart Mobility Planning Lead within our Mobility and Operational Technology Services (MOTS) group. The person in this leadership position will be responsible for strategically coordinating with key area operations staff, the MOTS Smart Mobility Lead and other national business class & cross sector directors with respect to leveraging HDR's full skill set in state-of-the-art technologies in connected, automated, electric and shared mobility, smart infrastructure, data analytics, ITS, and traffic management systems.
The focus of this position is to elevate HDR's current MOTS practice through targeted business development activities, relationship building, and overseeing technical delivery particularly with respect to Connected and Automated Vehicles as well as Smart Mobility in the municipal market. However, as a leader in MOTS, the successful candidate is expected to provide senior technical support and project management to HDR's clients across all of the MOTS service offerings within the fields of: * Connected Vehicles * Automated Vehicles * ITS * Micromobility Vehicles such as Personal Mobility, Delivery, and Air Mobility Devices * Federal and state regulations, policies, and standards in CAV and smart mobility * Transportation System Management and Operations * System Engineering processes such as Concept of Operations and requirements development * Other emerging mobility technology areas. In addition to serving as a subject matter expert leading the technical delivery of our most complex projects and programs, this person will also direct the procurement and execution of project opportunities in this field. Support developing in-house staff and capacity to assist in additional work sharing opportunities in support of other HDR offices. Building relationships within HDR Transportation Business Group and develop sustainable relationships within the regional and national practice groups. This position includes identification of and securing MOTS opportunities in the fields described above. The successful candidate is expected to support and facilitate an environment for continued technical development, which includes the identification and hiring of appropriate staff to support the workload. Program Management/Project Leadership Responsibilities As a Senior Municipal Smart Mobility Planning Lead in MOTS, this person will be responsible for working with the MOTS Smart Mobility Lead to oversee the successful completion of our most complex and most challenging technology-related projects. They will be responsible for: * Growing HDR's MOTS related business within the municipal market with an early focus on supporting growth in Michigan and Canada. * Seeing that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system. * Will be responsible for continually refining the process to increase technical competence, efficiency of design, and quality of product. * Be HDR's technical lead for projects that encompass transportation technology as described above. * Support the rapid growth of MOTS initiatives, including providing leadership in the business development and delivery across the suite of services. Business Development Responsibilities Represent HDR at conferences through presentations, panel participation, and committee membership. Expected to cultivate relationships with key clients. Will be required to travel to support project delivery and business development activities and is expected to serve as the primary relationship manager and business development lead for multiple clients simultaneously. Travel is expected to be a significant portion of the position encompassing 20%-30% of the overall work schedule. Willingness to travel internationally, with particular focus on locations in Canada, Middle East, and Australia is a must. Help to coordinate, track, and respond to opportunities in opportunities in local area and throughout North America. Serve as the primary author or opportunity lead for several simultaneous CAV and Smart Mobility opportunities throughout North America. Responsible for personal bookings within CAV and Smart Mobility of $1.5M to $2.5M annually. Major contributor to the overall CAV and Smart Mobility portfolio from $1.5M to $4M in Net Fees Booked within three years. It is expected that this role will be responsible for developing and rapidly growing HDR's planning work related to innovative technologies with municipal, MPO, and regional clients. Preferred Qualifications
* 15+ years of experience; progressive in nature, with emphasis on transportation technology related work, particularly as it relates to CAV, TSMO, Smart Mobility, ITS, and other transportation technologies as they are planned and deployed at the city or regional level. * Professional Engineer or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer strongly desired * Graduate degree in Urban/Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field. * Experienced in the development and management of diverse teams. * Recognized subject matter expertise and industry thought leadership. * 10+ years of experience with project management responsibilities of complex technology projects * Attendance and leadership role in national and/or local professional groups - ITS, Tolling, CAV, transportation technology, etc. * Previous leadership role and understanding of business opportunities and challenges with the introduction of innovative technologies at the municipal level.
