JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

We are searching for a self-motivated, customer service-oriented, and quality conscious safety person who is interested in a part-time opportunity to join our team at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).

ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.

You will:

  • Assist the Site Security Manager (SSM) and Superintendent in the incorporation of facilities oversight (management, installation, maintenance, removal, disposition, inventory, and coordination)

  • Work directly with the SSM to ensure all constructability standards are achieved in accordance with ICD 705

  • Oversee the daily documentation of on-site security logs, RFI's, and photos

  • Provide security oversight of site security perimeter and document deficiencies in security posture

  • Assist with physical security duties, including maintenance of the access control system, CCTV surveillance system, alarms, locks (FF-L 2740), keys, and combination changes

  • Interpret security policies and directives; assist with implementation and enforcement of security procedures

  • Establish, implement, accredit, and close out secure facilities in accordance with sponsor security directives

  • Monitor visitor control and escort where/when needed; inspect items brought on-site and report any/all deficiencies to SSM

  • May be responsible for coordinating security aspects of construction activities on-site

  • Prepare for and assist the SSM in physical security inspections by government agencies

  • Develop and present briefings/training on a range of security procedures and regulations for outside vendors, contractors, etc.

  • Attend weekly job progress meetings; brief weekly progress and address any outstanding or pending issues

Minimum requirements include four years of experience directly related to physical security.

Required skills/experience areas include:

  • ICD 705 and TEMPEST best practices

  • Demonstrated ability providing real time security risk assessments and practical mitigation solutions and necessitating additional security measures

  • Basic knowledge or exposure to reviewing and interpreting construction drawings/blueprints from a physical security perspective

  • Ability to communicate with construction crews to ensure security compliance

  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Demonstrated ability to work through difficult problems, using proper steps to define and formulate ideas to reach a solution

Your working location will be fully on-site, based in State College, PA. Days and hours will vary while progressing through different phases and seasons during construction. This position may require travel to our Reston, Virginia location.
