Women's Residential - Trauma Informed Care Specialist (Part Time)

Location: Marty's Place, Johnston RI

The Trauma Informed Care Specialist will play a consultative role in supporting training, curriculum design, and operations at Marty's Place women's substance use residential program. This position reports to the Director of Substance Use Services. This position has flexible hours not to exceed four hours per week without Director approval.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Ensures staff are appropriately trained and supervised in trauma informed care practices
  • Supports curriculum design and evaluation through a trauma-informed, person-centered, anti-oppression lens
  • Facilitates case review with the interdisciplinary treatment team when issues of complexity arise relative to human trafficking, domestic or intimate partner violence, parent-child separation, and/or other forms of complex trauma
  • Consults with program leadership on issues of staff wellness, self-care, and burnout prevention
  • Advises on best practices for including family, natural supports, and external agencies (e.g., DCYF) in care, and on best practices in visitation where children are involved

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years of direct practice experience in treating clients with severe and persistent mental illness, severe substance use disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Independent licensure required, certification in evidence-based trauma-informed therapies (e.g., EMDR, DBT, TF-CBT) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience providing leadership and/or consultation in a human services setting
  • Strong background in areas of victim services, domestic or intimate partner violence, parent-child reunification, and/or human trafficking
