Most work hours will occur Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm. Occasional weekend hours will be required. The official work schedule will be negotiated with the immediate supervisor. | Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
Campus Recreation provides a variety of programs and services to meet the
recreation/fitness/wellness needs of the university community. Campus
Recreation maintains several facilities around campus to help students stay
active. In addition to the Rams Head Recreation Center and the Student
Recreation Center, there is an indoor and outdoor pool, a number of outdoor
courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball and paddle tennis, and lighted fields
for sport club practices/matches and team intramural sports. Students have
about 50 sport clubs and more than 40 intramural sports for men's, women's,
and co-rec teams. Campus Recreation has a unique dual reporting structure
in which it reports to both Student Affairs and the Department of Exercise
and Sport Science via the Campus Recreation Administrative Board. |
| Position Summary |
Position Summary:
The Marketing Intern is responsible for assisting with designing and producing a variety of materials for print, social media, and video. The candidate will be able to show Campus Recreation activities, programs, and facilities in a safe, diverse, intentionally engaging way to enhance the University experience. The Marketing Intern will report to the Assistant Director for Marketing, Communication and External Relations and Marketing Coordinator and creates marketing collateral for all Campus Recreation campaigns and programs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develops creative ideas and concepts for comprehensive marketing campaigns and associated materials
- Design marketing materials (both print, digital and web) using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other creative design assets
- Captures and edits digital photos and video to be used across a variety of channels
- Takes a creative role in assisting in the conceptual direction of the way Campus Recreation tells the story of how Tar Heels Stay Active
- Writes and creates content for digital footprint in support of growing engagement and awareness of Campus Recreation activities, programs, and facilities.
- Assists with leadership and mentorship of the marketing student team

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
- Experience in graphic design with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience in multiple areas of photography including events or headshots/portraits
- Proficiency in Adobe Premier Pro for videography, editing, and production
- Must be able to anticipate project needs to discern work priorities
- Ability to collaborate with other campus professional staff
