Position Highlights

The Department of Community, Environment and Policy is seeking a qualified Administrative Associate to join their team. This position will perform critical functions in supporting the department with daily activities. The position requires initiative, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently, as well as to collaborate closely with Department Chair, faculty, staff, and students.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with the department chair and program director to plan and prioritize activities within the department and programs to meet deadlines.
  • Assist with planning department meetings and bi-annual retreats.
  • Provide administrative support to the department chair and program director for departmental and program business affairs, such as calendar management, search committees, timesheet approval, annual performance review, promotion & tenure review, and teaching evaluation following University policies and procedures.
  • Purchase departmental supplies and manage department properties.
  • Assist faculty for travel arrangements and reimbursements.
  • Assist with ordering lab courses supplies.
  • Partner with accountants/business office regarding department budgets and allocations of resources.
  • Provides guidance and assistance as needed to students, faculty, researchers, and other staff on policies, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of organizational and administrative resources such as Microsoft Office suite, Google Suite, and university systems.
  • Knowledge of campus fiscal policies, travel policies, and departmental requirements related to business procedure, travel, and onboarding/departing employee needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Ability to organize and provide attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
