Position Summary

The Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA), Executive MBA (EMBA), UCLA-NUS Global Executive MBA (UCLA-NUS)programs at the UCLA Anderson School of Management are nationally-recognized, self-supporting degree programs that serve approximately 1,200 students, all of whom are working professionals at different stages of their careers. The Executive Director of Admissions for the professional MBA programs has managerial responsibility for the admissions staff and the entire admissions lifecycle for all three programs, such as: marketing, recruiting, and operations. In addition to managing day-to-day admissions operations, this role partners with program leadership to set and execute the strategic direction of the admissions department. The Executive Director regularly reports on admissions progress and outcomes, using data and industry insights to refine strategies in response to the school's evolving goals and the changing higher education landscape. The Executive Director will be responsible for growing the applicant pools and ensuring the annual enrollment of full cohorts of qualified students.. This will be accomplished through a combination of outreach, communication, application evaluation, data analysis, and collaboration with faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The Executive Director will also lead and represent the school at admissions events, both on-campus and off-campus (primarily the West Coast). The Executive Director is the most senior external facing admissions team member and is expected to be a main point of contact throughout the admissions lifecycle for any internal and external stakeholder. This role plays an integral part in evaluating applications and in crafting balanced and dynamic cohorts. The position will be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of a strong yield strategy, this may be accomplished through counseling of admitted and waitlisted students and by holding "yield" events.. Additional responsibilities include overseeing various admissions committees, conducting applicant interviews, and verifying academic and professional eligibility. This role is also responsible for the effectiveness and efficiency of the team, leading an admissions team of ~10 staff who are at various professional levels. Admissions budget oversight, including forecasting and monitoring expenditures to ensure adherence to the budget. It's critical for success to work collaboratively with other departments within the professional programs and with other teams such as Full-time MBA admissions, marketing, finance and UCLA Graduate Division. The Executive Director is expected to represent the programs at professional industry conferences, showcasing UCLA Anderson's strengths and developing strong peer school connections. The Executive Director of GEMBA, EMBA, and FEMBA Admissions supervises the work of the Executive/Fully-Employed MBA Admissions Team and works in collaboration with the Alumni Engagement Officer EMBA/FEMBA and the Student Affairs and Career teams. The position reports to the Associate Dean of Executive and Fully Employed MBA Programs.


Salary & Compensation

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead an admissions team and the associated admission team strategic planning, and continuous improvements. (Required)
  • Experience in admissions program development and management. (Required)
  • Knowledge of cross-cultural differences among applicants and recommenders from around the world and an ability to use this knowledge in evaluating applicants from diverse backgrounds. (Required)
  • Broad knowledge of business and industry, including professional experience in MBA and/or business-related fields. (Required)
  • Ability to travel, as required (domestic andinternational) and work evenings, weekends, holidays and other non-traditional work schedules (i.e., Tuesday-Saturday). (Required)
  • Skills in prioritizing numerous tasks to complete all work in a timely fashion. (Required)
  • Proven ability to engage and evaluate applicants via interviews. (Required)
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to make and support admission recommendations and decisions in a highly competitive admissions environment and to efficiently review large numbers of applications on time and with solid judgment. (Required)
  • Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and to analyze results. (Required)
  • Skills in data analysis, forecasting, and synthysis. (Required)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to interact effectively with prospective students, faculty, and administrators in person and in writing. (Required)
