Shipping & Receiving Specialist



Summary of Job


The Inventory & Transportation Specialist is primarily responsible for safely operating a 26 ft box truck to transport materials, parts, and equipment in support of Pregis operations. Approximately 80% of this role is dedicated to driving and material transportation activities. The remaining responsibilities focus on inventory control support, including receiving, stocking, issuing parts, and maintaining accurate inventory records to support production and business needs.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Transportation & Driving Responsibilities



  • Safely operate a 26 ft box truck to transport materials, parts, and equipment between Pregis facilities and approved locations.
  • Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely and efficient delivery and pickup of materials.
  • Load, secure, and unload materials in accordance with safety guidelines and transportation regulations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any safety or maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs, delivery documentation, and shipment records.
  • Ensure compliance with company transportation policies and all applicable safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to support transportation needs and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle at all times.



Inventory Control Responsibilities



  • Support daily inventory operations, including receiving, stocking, and issuing parts to production and Machine Assembly lines.
  • Assist with tracking incoming and outgoing inventory transactions.
  • Perform physical and digital inventory counts as assigned to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Store incoming materials in designated locations and ensure proper labeling.
  • Update inventory systems with material movements related to deliveries and receipts.
  • Assist with cycle counts and investigation of inventory discrepancies as needed.
  • Utilize forklifts and material handling equipment to store and retrieve materials.
  • Support Quality Control, Engineering, and Procurement with "Blocked Stock" and non-compliant parts control.
  • Maintain organized and clean inventory and storage areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college coursework preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Prior experience operating a 26 ft box truck or similar commercial vehicle preferred.
  • Forklift experience or certification preferred.

Work Environment


The employee will work both indoors in a climate-controlled environment and outdoors while loading, unloading, and driving. Noise levels range from quiet to moderate. Exposure to weather conditions may occur during transportation activities.



Physical Characteristics



  • Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
  • Occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Close vision required.
  • Ability to lift and carry 10-30 lbs.
