SUMMARY: The Senior Maintenance Technician is the technical backbone of the Grandview maintenance operation, responsible for diagnosing and resolving the most complex equipment failures, mentoring junior technicians and/or apprentices, and driving reliability improvement across assigned value streams. Grandview assembly equipment is predominantly 20+ year old dial-type and chain-driven MK platform machines requiring deep mechanical aptitude. The Senior Technician is ideally proficient in Hippo and MaintainX (CMMS platforms) and is critical to the facility's TPM/DTM implementation, serving as the primary technical. Under the TPM Line Ownership model, Senior Technicians may serve as Line Owners responsible for total equipment effectiveness of assigned production lines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Description 30% Breakdown Response & Complex Repair Primary responder for breakdowns exceeding junior technician capability. Diagnose root cause of complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures on legacy dial-type assembly machines, chain-driven MK platforms, injection molding equipment, and auxiliary systems. Restore equipment with emphasis on minimizing MTTR. Document corrective actions in MaintainX. 25% Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Execute and continuously improve PM routes for assigned equipment. Develop PM task lists based on failure history, OEM specifications, and condition-based observations. Perform predictive maintenance activities (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis) where applicable. Maintain 95%+ PM compliance. Document all findings in Hippo and MaintainX with detailed technician notes. 15% Mentoring & Apprentice Development Primary technical mentor for assigned apprentices in the formal Apprenticeship Program. Conduct structured OJT aligned with the 8,000-hour requirement across work process categories. Evaluate skill progression through hands-on demonstration and competency sign-off. Model proper troubleshooting methodology including 5-Why root cause analysis. Provide feedback to the Maintenance Manager on apprentice development and readiness for wage progression gates. 10% TPM / DTM SupportSupport DTM (Autonomous Maintenance) by training operators on Steps 1-7 activities including cleaning as inspection, lubrication standards, and abnormality detection. AM standards are currently established but new; participate in developing standards for assigned value streams as they roll out. Create and update OPLs. Participate in AM step audits and kaizen activities. 10% SMED & Changeover Support Support SMED events by ensuring sub-assemblies and spare parts are pre-built, inspected, and staged prior to changeovers. Coordinate with the CNC machining group on spare part needs and lead times. Participate in changeover time studies and identify opportunities to convert internal setup to external. 5% Root Cause Analysis & Documentation Lead or participate in formal RCA for breakdowns exceeding 30 minutes. Complete 5-Why analysis, fishbone diagrams, and PCAR documentation. Ensure countermeasures are verified and horizontally deployed. Maintain accurate equipment history in CMMS. 5% Continuous Improvement & Safety Identify and implement reliability improvements to reduce chronic losses. Participate in kaizen events targeting the 6 Big Losses. Maintain 5S standards. Ensure compliance with LOTO, confined space, hot work, and elevated work procedures. • 11-15 years maintenance experience with High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated expertise in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Plastics manufacturing experience (injection molding or high-speed assembly)
  • Experience with legacy automated assembly equipment (dial machines, chain-driven platforms)
  • Proficiency reading electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, or PLC ladder logic
  • Working knowledge of CMMS platforms (Hippo, MaintainX, or equivalent)
