Division of Plant Science & Technology Job Description
The Division of Plant Science & Technology is seeking a Research Specialist I to assist with a research project focused on understanding nitrogen use efficiency and nitrogen loss pathways in agricultural systems. It is well known that the nitrogen use efficiency of applied fertilizers is low (<50%), but the nitrogen loss pathways are complex. In this project, scientists will measure the fate and transport pathways of applied nitrogen in a small agricultural watershed. To support this work, the Research Specialist I will conduct professional data collection and provide technical support for the project. To quantify pathways for nitrogen loss, the Research Specialist I will sample nitrogen species in the soil, water, and air at a research farm in Centralia, MO. Research Specialist I Key Responsibilities:
Shift
Monday through Friday, 40-hours per week; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications
Ability to conduct field research in a variety of weather conditions, including transporting and carrying research equipment to measurement locations. Possession of a valid driver's license is required. Prior experience with soil sampling and/or environmental sensor networks is preferred. Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $17.05 -$23.37/hour. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
