Summary

The DSV Road Business Development Manager is responsible for driving new business growth by identifying, developing, and securing domestic transportation solutions for medium to large, high-volume customers. This role is success-driven and customer-focused, with accountability for developing value propositions, managing the internal bid process, building strong stakeholder relationships, and leading negotiations through deal closure. The incumbent partners closely with internal sales, operations, and leadership teams to deliver scalable, profitable solutions aligned with corporate objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Relationship Management



  • Establish and maintain trusted-advisor relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior decision-makers.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership by identifying creative, non-traditional solutions to customer needs.
  • Deliver new sales results by leveraging internal resources and subject-matter expertise effectively.
  • Lead and support client negotiations to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Influence operational outcomes through collaboration without direct authority.



Sales Planning & Execution



  • Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with overall corporate and regional objectives.
  • Provide timely, accurate revenue and profitability forecasts for new business opportunities.
  • Proactively identify industry, market, and economic trends that may impact business growth.
  • Communicate sales plans, pipeline activity, and performance updates to leadership.
  • Contribute to building and sustaining a high-performing, world-class sales organization.



Knowledge Management & Market Presence



  • Maintain current knowledge of regional, industry, and competitive developments.
  • Support market share growth through active participation in sales development initiatives.
  • Contribute to the company's knowledge base by sharing best practices and insights.
  • Participate in corporate, regional, or office initiatives as required.



Culture & Governance



  • Treat the client as the highest priority and seek to understand customer processes and objectives.
  • Utilize sales tools and systems consistently and effectively.
  • Provide accurate and timely business development reporting.
  • Represent the organization professionally within the community and industry.
  • Act in accordance with corporate governance standards, policies, and internal controls.



Qualifications & Work Experience



  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of sales experience with demonstrated success selling logistics or transportation services.
  • 5+ years of operational experience within the supply chain or logistics industry preferred.



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong consultative and solution-selling capabilities, with the ability to sell at a strategic, partnership level.
  • Solid understanding of domestic transportation management and logistics operations.
  • Ability to balance sales execution with operational awareness to ensure solution feasibility.
  • Intermediate knowledge of financial, accounting, and budgetary concepts.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated, competitive, and results-oriented with strong organizational and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and personal accountability.
  • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to share best practices and leverage enterprise capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Power BI) and comfort using CRM and sales automation tools.
  • Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.



Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to perform standard office-based activities, including prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working at a computer. The position may require occasional lifting of materials up to 15 pounds, as well as the ability to travel to client sites, attend meetings, and participate in industry or community events. Work Environment

The Business Development Manager works in a professional office environment with frequent interaction across internal teams and external customers. The role involves regular travel to client locations and meetings, as business needs require. Work is primarily performed indoors, with standard office equipment and technology, and may involve flexible hours to accommodate customer and business demands.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $78,000 - $98,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education or certifications, and geographic location, consistent with applicable laws and company policy. This position is eligible for a Business Development commission plan.
