Position Summary

The DP Sensors Technical Specialist is responsible for the technical oversight, performance, and lifecycle management of Dynamic Positioning (DP) sensors supporting Survey and C NAV operations. This role ensures the reliability, accuracy, and compliance of all DP-related sensor systems across assigned fleet and project assets. The position serves as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership, troubleshooting support, and strategic planning to enable safe and efficient offshore survey operations.

This U.S.-based position is aligned to the Broussard, LA office and is classified as hybrid (onshore/offshore environment), allowing for remote work and/or work at other designated locations as determined by business needs. Work schedules will be established by the manager. The role may require domestic and international travel as assigned.


Duties And Responsibilities

Technical Oversight & Systems Management:

  • Manage all DP sensor systems, including but not limited to GNSS, motion reference units (MRUs), gyrocompasses, wind sensors, and acoustic positioning systems.
  • Ensure DP sensors are maintained, calibrated, configured, and validated in accordance with IMO, Class, and company standards.
  • Review and approve sensor layouts, redundancy configurations, and system integrations for survey vessels and project. deployments.

Operational Support:

  • Provide technical support to offshore and onshore teams for DP sensor performance issues, failures, and troubleshooting.
  • Support C-Nav Project Manager in selection of offshore teams for onsite DP sensor performance issues, failures, and troubleshooting.
  • Support DP Trials, Annual DP Surveys, FMEA testing, and mobilization/demobilization activities.
  • Act as a technical escalation point during critical operations or incidents related to DP positioning integrity.

Standards, Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable DP, Class, and regulatory requirements (IMO, IMCA, Class Society rules).
  • Develop, maintain, and review technical documentation, including sensor specifications, maintenance plans, procedures, and failure analysis reports.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

Asset & Vendor Management:

  • Evaluate DP sensor technologies and make recommendations for upgrades, replacements, or standardization.
  • Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and service providers for repairs, upgrades, and technical support.
  • Manage spare parts strategy and lifecycle planning for DP sensor assets.
  • Ensure offshore and onshore teams are trained in accordance with manufacturer standards.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to surveyors, DP personnel, and technicians.
  • Collaborate closely with Survey, Marine, IT, and Project teams to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Support training initiatives related to DP sensor operation and best practices.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.

Additional Information

This position is Hybrid - Remote and will r:equire commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business need.
