Job Summary
Human Services, a department within UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education, provides continuing education and professional development programs for the human services workforce throughout California. Within UC Davis Human Services, the Adult Protective Services (APS) Northern Academy supports training and workforce development services for APS staff in 28 California counties, funded by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS).
Under general direction of the Adult Protective Services (APS) Northern Academy Director, provide project management, program development and program analysis related to the APS Northern Academy. Leverage advanced technical expertise and project management skills to lead regional and statewide projects and initiatives. Serve as operational and project management lead in APS Northern Academy programs and processes. Represent the APS Northern Academy program in a variety of communications, meetings, collaborations and partnerships with other agencies statewide. As a Project Manager, this position will support the APS team in achieving contract deliverables effectively and efficiently. Develop and implement work plans for project sand special events, ensuring projects re delivered on time, within scope and budget, and meet contract obligations. Develop and oversee the implementation of program policies and processes. Cultivate, develop and enhance relationships with a variety of social work education stakeholders to deliver innovative services and supports that meet their needs. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to manage content development processes and ensure program quality. Lead the strategic development and direct oversight of new project implementation, playing a pivotal role in ensuring streamlined project execution and completion. Lead cross-functional initiatives by assessing needs, identifying relevant data, conducting analyses, and providing strategic recommendations; lead workgroups to enhance business processes by defining requirements, mapping workflows, exploring alternatives, and implementing solutions across multiple complex initiatives.
Design and maintaining the team's technical systems and overseeing data collection and analysis utilizing tools such as Airtable, Salesforce, survey tools, and learning management systems. Lead technical development, delivery, and data analysis of the annual training needs assessment and other constituent surveys. Deliver training and technical support for initiatives including new tool or process implementation, business transformation, automation, and business intelligence-related needs. Design and optimize system workflows that enhance project management, communication, and feedback processes while closely collaborating with teams and partners to define, plan, and execute projects, ensuring timely delivery, within scope and high-quality outcomes. Incorporate change management strategies to ensure adoption of new tools/processes and successful utilization. Provide direct support for some program deliverables, such as regional meetings with stakeholders and delivery of virtual reality-based learning experiences.
Leads the analysis of processes and data to translate contract requirements into scalable, compatible models that align with existing tools and workflows. Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders; gather insights, address challenges, and implement best practices for continuous improvement. This role combines the strategic planning and execution capabilities of a project manager with the analytical skills of a business analyst to drive meaningful and measurable change. - Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Project management experience to work independently and oversee multiple, concurrent projects of a complex nature, to establish and adjust priorities, and to develop a course of action, monitor plans, ensure timely completion, review and evaluate results. Demonstrated leadership experience to independently manage/direct a wide variety of projects to their successful completion.
- Experience planning large special events and facilitating statewide meetings or convenings with a broad range of key stakeholders.
- Experience formulating strategies and administering policies. Experience extracting, analyzing and reconciling data, evaluating trends, and preparing reports and dashboards for decision-making.
- Extensive experience using and/or implementing project management software and relational databases at an advanced user level, such as Airtable, and advanced features in MS Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
- Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate and address complex, unprecedent issues. Skilled in defining problems, identifying alternatives, securing relevant data, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and making sound recommendations.
- Proficient in mapping, analyzing and re-engineering business processes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and political acumen to convene, facilitate and interact with internal and external stakeholders, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a collaborative team environment. Skill in negotiation, consensus building, collaborative problem-solving and conflict resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with UC Davis business systems including Aggie Expense, Destiny One and PrePurchasing.
- Experience with survey tools/platforms such as Airtable or Qualtrics.
- Experience creating dashboards in Airtable, Tableau or another data visualization application. Experience using learning management systems such as Blackboard.
- Familiarity with human services programs or the educational sector, specifically continuing and professional education.
