Job Purpose

The Technician, Electrical supports the research, development, and production of advanced generator technologies by assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and sub-systems in an R&D lab environment. This role partners closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to translate electrical designs into reliable, safe, and manufacturable hardware, while maintaining high standards for quality, documentation, and workplace safety. The technician plays a key role in improving build efficiency, test effectiveness, and overall system performance as technologies transition from development to production.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Own the assembly of electrical systems for R&D and production, including electrical panels, cable and wire harnesses, and test fixtures
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings for implementation on R&D and production hardware
  • Assemble high- and low-voltage cabling, panels, and fixtures required for R&D and production systems
  • Assist with and provide feedback on component placement to improve build efficiency and accessibility
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical issues during system integration and testing
  • Perform validation testing and compile results in accordance with established test procedures
  • Provide feedback on test procedures to improve efficiency, coverage, and effectiveness
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and other technicians
  • Provide input on manufacturability, serviceability, and safety of electrical designs
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation of build processes, test results, and design modifications
  • Ensure work complies with internal safety standards, industry regulations, and quality requirements
  • Maintain lab tools, equipment, and test fixtures in proper working condition
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized lab environment in accordance with safety protocols
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and quality enhancements

Qualifications include:



  • Education, Experience and Certifications

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in electrical assembly, prototyping, or testing in an R&D, manufacturing, or industrial environment
    • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Acceptability of Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies) preferred
    • Familiarity with OSHA safety requirements preferred
    • Familiarity with NFPA 70E electrical safety standards preferred
    • Forklift and/or overhead crane operation experience preferred


  • Skills and Abilities

    • Proficiency in wiring, soldering, crimping, and wire harness assembly
    • Experience assembling and troubleshooting custom panels, control boxes, and electrical enclosures
    • Strong ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical prints, and technical drawings
    • Ability to safely work around and take ownership of safety in low- and high-voltage AC/DC systems (up to 480V or higher)
    • Experience using electrical test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators
    • Familiarity with PLCs, power electronics, relays, and industrial control components
    • Basic understanding of grounding practices, and electrical noise mitigation
    • Experience working with AC/DC power systems, generators, inverters, or similar electrical power equipment preferred
    • Basic experience with data logging and test documentation to support engineering evaluations





Role Classification and Working Conditions

This is a(n) hourly, non-exempt-level position. This position typically works in a production/assembly/engineering lab environment. Overtime may be required.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel, as needed, by plane, automobile, etc.
