Job Description

Prepares and handles supplies, instruments and equipment in both sterile and non sterile functions. Functions primarily as the scrub member of the surgical team under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).

Job Responsibility

• * Assists in preparation of room for procedures by assembling and checking function of equipment, supplies, instruments and special items needed for procedure.
• * Assists RN in preparation of patients to ensure comfort and safety, allay fears, and give reassurance.Transports patients, as required.
• * Sets-up instruments and supplies for assigned procedure.
• * Assists the procedure team by passing the required instruments to the physician.
• * Assists in clean-up of procedure suite between cases including, but not limited to, disposal of contaminated waste and terminally cleaning of instruments, checking their function.
• * Operates endoscopic reprocessor.
• * Replenishes special supplies, as needed.
• * Cares for special instruments and equipment.
• * Assists in returning unused supplies to proper place.
• Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

• High School diploma or equivalent, required.
• Knowledge of endoscopy supplies, equipment and instruments as normally acquired by completing a Surgical Technology Program.
• Demonstrates understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills to understand directions and provide information.
