Engineering Product Manager - Splunk AI Foundations

Location: Remote - United States

Splunk is looking for an enthusiastic and drivenEngineering Product Manager to drive the future of the next generation of AI capabilities across our product portfolio supporting our digital resilience customers. In this role, you will be responsible for deep integration of generative AI and machine learning with a focus on digital resilience - AI platform and tools, the model lifecycle, unified security analytics, full stack observability and real-time visibility of streaming data. In this role, you will define the critical features and roadmap for bringing high-scale, high-performance AI to Splunk customers and app developers.

You will use your understanding and experience building products using Gen AI, LLMs and deep learning, and your ML expertise in building anomaly detection systems, to support observability use cases. If you are adept at cross-team collaboration and have worked closely with engineers and data scientists to build AI products that drive meaningful and impactful business outcomes, this is the role for you. Proven experience with application performance monitoring (APM) tools, AIOps, Foundation models for machine data, or similar observability technologies. Experience with Splunk Observability Cloud, AppDynamics, Splunk IT Service Intelligence or similar platforms. Deep AI Product management experience, specifically shipping AI tools and platforms, building and training models, MLOps capabilities, foundation models and AI Assisant solutions is a requirement. You will work in the technical Central AI Product Management team so a real appreciation of serving the needs of Security, AI, and Platform engineers is vital. Exposure cross-functional AI integration is a plus.

You will merge customer value, business imperatives with attention to technical detail and collaborate with cross-functional execution teams to drive customer insights and inputs directly into the development process and the entire product life cycle. Ideally, you have experience working directly with GTM partners and customers, especially design partners.

What you'll get to do

As with any fast-growing company, day-to-day responsibilities will span the entire product life cycle, delivery pipeline and include deep interaction with customers, sales, and engineering, and Splunk's global partner organization.

  • Collaborate closely with your AI PM counterparts to deliver in depth AI integration across the entire product portfolio

  • Engage with customers, develop insights into what is possible, and uncover unarticulated needs to ensure customer success.

  • Define product specifications, user stories, mockups, and acceptance criteria independently and in collaboration with engineering, design, TPM, and documentation.

  • Collaborate with QA, SRE, and release teams to plan, drive and implement product release cycles.

  • Collaborate with product marketing to support the creation of content.

  • Engage with Compliance, Legal, and Finance teams to ensure products meet security, legal standards as well as address financial goals (for example cloud margin)

Must-have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven success in product management.

  • Deep understanding and several years of experience in product delivery of AI services, machine learning platforms and products, and generative AI.

  • Deep AI Product management experience, specifically shipping AI tools and platforms, building and training models, MLOps capabilities, foundation models and AI Assisant solutions is a requirement.

  • Solid understanding of infrastructure, networking, and security concerns in on-prem and cloud environments.

  • Actively maintain a view of how the Security, Platform and AIOps market, competition and technologies are evolving, and factor it, as well as feedback from internal groups and customers, into the product strategy

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate sophisticated technical products and features into simple concepts and presentations.

  • Champion an atmosphere of continuous product improvement by serving as a customer advocate and collaborating closely with sales, support, engineering to make judgment calls that best serve customers and the business.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Experience building AI capabilities at scale via platform services that serve multiple products with a focus on generative AI, machine learning, deep learning.

  • Experience delivering compelling products incorporating artificial intelligence as part of the technical solution with tangible results of customer value, adoption, consumption leading to business growth

  • Deep understanding of AI and cybersecurity market and competition.

  • Deep understanding of anomaly detection and its application to security and/or observability use cases

  • Continuously deliver results of product improvement through each stage of the product life cycle

  • Experience developing pricing strategy that met expectations and improved growth for the business

  • Strong negotiation skills paired with building trusting relationships within the team, the organization, customers and partners

  • Strong bias for action, creative thinking, innovation, and data-informed product decision-making.

  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure and agile software development

  • Passion for solving interesting technical problems and building enterprise products with intuitive user experience.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. CS, Data Science, Information Science ); MBA or similar degree highly preferred

Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location, market conditions, job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training. The full salary range for certain locations is listed below. For locations not listed below, the recruiter can share more details about compensation for the role in your location during the hiring process.

U.S. employees are offered benefits, subject to Cisco's plan eligibility rules, which include medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability coverage, and basic life insurance. Employees may be eligible to receive grants of Cisco restricted stock units, which vest following continued employment with Cisco for defined periods of time.

U.S. employees are eligible for paid time away as described below, subject to Cisco's policies:

  • 10 paid holidays per full calendar year, plus 1 floating holiday for non-exempt employees

  • 1 paid day off for employee's birthday, paid year-end holiday shutdown, and 4 paid days off for personal wellness determined by Cisco

  • Non-exempt employees** receive 16 days of paid vacation time per full calendar year, accrued at rate of 4.92 hours per pay period for full-time employees

  • Exempt employees participate in Cisco's flexible vacation time off program, which has no defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use (subject to availability and some business limitations)

  • 80 hours of sick time off provided on hire date and each January 1st thereafter, and up to 80 hours ofunused sick timecarried forwardfrom one calendar yearto the next

  • Additional paid time away may be requested to deal with critical or emergency issues for family members

  • Optional 10 paid days per full calendar year to volunteer

For non-sales roles, employees are also eligible to earn annual bonuses subject to Cisco's policies.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components, subject to the applicable Cisco plan. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

  • .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

  • 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

  • 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and

  • Once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay 0% up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.

The applicable full salary ranges for this position, by specific state, are listed below:

New York City Metro Area:

$152,400.00 - $255,100.00

Non-Metro New York state & Washington state:

$134,300.00 - $224,800.00

* For quota-based sales roles on Cisco's sales plan, the ranges provided in this posting include base pay and sales target incentive compensation combined.

** Employees in Illinois, whether exempt or non-exempt, will participate in a unique time off program to meet local requirements.
